Hi Jase Just an idea if the wire is brass then u could try soldering/ brazeing the ends together, but a better way might be to obtain some brass tube of the correct diameter[ ie so it slides over the wire but is a good fit]then cut small lengths and solder/braze or glue to get a neat finish. Just an idea hope this gets the little grey cells jumping Regards Andy PS, On the victory if the origonal chains are joined then they would have been hammer welded [ like all chains were made back then] by a blacksmith Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

It would seem that some of the chain whale links are open and others joined as u can see from Mr T,s piks and the above examples, so i guess its what is more pleasing to you on your model or to go for the scale appearance as on the real ship desisions desisions regards Andy PS As an after thought perhaps some of the chains were left open to give a spring/flex to the chain whales where more movement of the rigging was needed Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .
They're are not joined on the real ship http://gallery.kitmaker..../22154/HMS_Victory3.jpg
Sorry Mr T thier is somthing wrong with that photo it may be a clever photo shop job but i dont belive that is the real victory. The gunport lids have nots under them, not the chain hoops?. My pics that i took last year show them all closed looped. confusing. I was wondering about using the same proces but cutting the linck at the top so it would not bo so noticable. “Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.” -Mark Twain

Looking at the image again I think your right, the knots on the port lids are a give away, its a photo of a model rather than being the real ship If you have the time an patiece you could close the joint with solder which wont show if your painting them black.

I am painting so soldering may be an option I also think i will make the cut higher up rather than in the middle. “Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.” -Mark Twain
