The last two photos of MR T's official build shows lashings to secure the top dead eyes instead of knots. I am up to issue 68 and have just started to use .25 mm natural thread lashings to secure all my blocks. Apart from looking better, I am finding it easier to get the correct lengths to the blocks each time. I use a fishing fly tying method to make tubes on drill shanks using 2 x the diameter of the securing thread by glueing them with thinned down super glue and then cutting the tubes to length with a new razor blade. I then glue them with thinned PVA glue onto the securing threads. Is anybody else doing this and/or what method are you using. I think I will be replacing most of the knotted blocks I have alredy tied especially on the hand rail ropes. The photos show a black lashing on one block for illustration purposes. Hi Ivan,
This is the way I use on some of my builds. It is so much quicker to do and looks neater too.
Chris.. On the bench 1/350 Revell Tirpitz Platinum Edition (Pontos PE and Wooden deck) plus extra Eduard PE set and extra MK1 door sets.

A great idea and I will certainly have a go at that You do not need a parachute to skydive. You only need a parachute to skydive twice.

My build simply reflects that of the magazine., presumably you mean issue 92 rather than issue 96, because 96 is way off being posted up

hi deepsea, yes this is a way of doingit,if you go to index, and look for 'karls tips and tricks, you will see I covered this subject on how to'. choosing the right colour thread helps to keep thing looking right, when I get to that stage, all the shrouds and ratlines and also dead eyes will be black,so the whippings will be black also.the landyards(between both deadeyes) will be natural colour. Current builds: SotS, USS Consitution, San Felipe, D51 loco, HMS Surprise, RB7, Arab Dhow, Jotika HMS Victory Completed builds: HMS Pickel, Thermopylae, Mississipi river boat, Mary Rose, Cutty Sark, San Francisco II, HMS Victory x5, Titanic Lifeboat, Panart HMS Victory Launch, Hachette Titanic, Virginia Schooner, Endeavour Longboat. http://www.model-space.com/gb/
