very very nice. If you are brush painting always remember a number of thin cots are always better than one thick coat. your care and attention to detail are paying off looks good. BigGrin

BigGrin Thanks Jase
i am using brushes and use several thin coats but i used the Tamia undercoat on the tower which turns white when dry,but this turns into a powder under the paint over time which has caused me problems . Iv managed to get most of it off now though, its only the tower that im not really happy with as the rest of the model iv painted has turned out pretty good considering, thanks for the comments

BigGrin Hi All
A couple more pics of progress so far, iv covered all the internal planking/formers with laminating epoxy to seal it.I recieved part 8 so i have half the decking pieces now and will be adding them as recieved then il use the templates to do the final shaping.theres a few more bits to add to the tower [pics to follow shortly] but i wont be doing all the machine gun mountings till i have the parts to attach them to, also i dumped the wire provided and bought replacment wire.As always all comments are welcome

Can I ask why you are sealing the hull? are you intending to convert to RC?Mellow

Its likely epoxy used to strengthen the hull planking on the inside prior to profiling the hull on the outside, the Akagi uses the same method.

BigGrin Hi Jase
as Mr T has said its a way of sealing the internal structure and adding some strength [it would be even stronger if i had used cloth aswell],it also helps with keeping the hull stableised from too much shrink/flex. I suppose it goes back to my old r/c days as i always used this method to prevent fuel ingreess into the fuselages i built, i found this method worked for me then so im just doing what iv always done

I think its what creates a lifelong interest in model making, because no matter how experienced there is always something new to pick up or come's along, be it method, tools or whatever.

She's coming along nicely ARPCool

Blink Have a little gripe the photo etch bow enhancment has been damaged in the post, both corners damaged and nicks/dent at the bow end i feel this part would have been better sent on a card backing as the wooden bow plate its sent/packaged with is smaller than the photo etch plate. I have sent an e-mail to customer services hopefully il get a swift responceLOL

What's the visible side like, will it not roll out from the back?

Hi Mr T
As you can see from the pics, the bow part nicks i think will be covered by the crysanthemum enhancment and one side of the corners looks ok after some rolling out but the other side has the corner missing as you can see [ its not folded under but broken off here]. This area will not be covered by the breakwater and if some triming back is needed [to fit the deck] then it wont be a problem but if not as its a piece that will draw the eye to it then the missing corner will stick out like a saw thumb, guess i might be being too much of a perfectionist but thats me
