Thanks Mike for the suggestion about the San fransisco II, but i would prefer a kit with all parts included, i still havent received any conformation of when the first issues of my sub are going to arrive and if i order the San fransisco II it will be the same waiting process, thanks for the suggestion anyway Del_Boy Current Builds

Although I am still building my kit of the Thermopylae (everything came to a grinding halt when we moved I have found this kit has been useful in teaching me the basics of fairing & planking both important skills...more so the fairing as if this isn't done correctly the planking won't sit correctly. Here is a link to the kit http://www.cornwallmodel...mantua_thermopylae.html as you can see it is reasonably priced for paying out in one go & quite detailed as well. If you click on the link below it will take you to my build diary of what I have done so far, basically all I have left is the masts & rigging. Hope this has been of some use to you. Hi, San Fran can be bought as a complete kit, works out cheaper than buying in instalments. Ger

Hi Del, You could try somewhere like 'Billings Boats' or 'Cornwall Model Boats'. They both have a range of wooden kit boats that can be purchased as complete 'kits' so you can build straight from the box, although it goes without saying that you'll need some specialised tools in your arsenal, and with some of the foriegn kits, the instructions are not always as good as they could be - the the english translation leaving a lot to the imagination. Hence one would have to have some experience at building this type of model (that's why I'm ,as a novice, building our Victory in weekly parts and the instructions and illustrations are superb). And although not really cheap. they are a lot cheaper than our Victory build will be by the time we've finished her. Happy building David

Hi Del_Boy I was in the same position as you when I started. I saved a lot of money, and have worked continuosly on my build since, by changing my subscription to the latest date which everybody is now on, and buying the magasines to catch up either on ebay (half price Max.)or if I got stuck from Deags back issues.(full price) I have almost caught up now. First Build HMS Victory and HMS Endeavour Also Krick steam boat "Victoria" Cheers Ivan (Ordinary Seaman) http://www.old-glossop.com
