I was thinging of doing both. full sails at the top furled at the bottom just to alow a better view. i have seen the wire idea before with a hairdryer to get the blown look. It is a great idea.

I shall be going down the full sail route as Victory would have looked just prior to joining battle, as it was known, that Victory was moving at a slow pace...(about 12 knots)...possibly because of lack of wind or the direction of the wind, so it should be interesting if not fun trying to shape the sails to mimic the conditions at the time...
Unsure

Hope you are going to use the second class sails as they did in battle rather than the main set used for travelling.BigGrin

Hi team another member gave me an idea, so I can not claim it came from me, but has anyone thought of putting a piece of the real Victory in their build?BigGrin

Pieces of the real Victory are available on Ebay with authenticity certificates, and they are not expensive.BigGrin

Some of you guys have the skill to carve the figure head out of a lump of oak from the Victory, or you could use some veneer or whatever you choose.

Just a thoughtBigGrin Regards Mike

That's a cracking idea the other member had Mike, it would really make it authentic with a piece of the real Victory incorporated into your model. I really like that Idea and I think I will do that.

I also think the idea of blown sail using wire is a capital idea as well and would add to the authenticity element. Are you going for partial sail deployment, or are you not sold on the idea and are going for bare masts instead?

Hi Mike.
how are you. in a post you mentioned that you had sorced some resin boats
could you please let me know where you sourced them from, and post some pictures of them. MR T has confirmed there is 18ft cutter in issue 109. good news. would still like to put all of victorys boats on model if they do not supply all of them.
hope all your builds are still going ok ian.Cool

Hello shipmates,
Reading with interest I will be going down the furied sails route, reason is it will show more of the ship to my mind, also I had the thought when on a resent trip to Chatham Docks that I will buy some hemp, (rope)and it will be placed into the ships rigging not original but I feel is just something that was made at the same place as the Victory.

Regards tf64.
