A few more pics:  Size comparison with the Endeavour Longboat, which is scaled at 1:50.  Am having real problems lining the deck up with mast positions. Did anyone have to sand the deck to get it to fit with the mast and frames?

 hi Astronut i built a jig for false keel then glued the frames making sure sitting square once all dry i fitted the false deck OK The false deck is tight and may i suggest wetting the deck first this will make it more flexible and less likely to split (learnt that the hard way) The only sanding of the false deck was on the edges so they ran smooth with frame edges Hope this gives you some help

I forth that.as budgie has got past that prob. I would listen to him,if there was a prob.budgie found it,and has gained a lot of experience on the way.what may also help is when you have got the jig set up and if you have glued the ribs,soak the rib joins with a paint brush and hot water,this will free up the glue and placing the deck will be a lot easier and it also squares everything up better.then just let dry,provided it is placed in the jig,it should dry up all nice and square.good luck.this is the most important stage of the build,to make sure everything is square and straight. Already have the End longboat and the Akagi underway and my wife bought me the San Fran 2, someone told me that this was an addictive hobby but if I get any more ships I dont think that I will get any finished Ger

 Memory not so clear those days but some issues are lacking in parts but other issues you get loads of stuff  so do not be disheartened (and i am a girnin' old fart) it's a big build for inspiration of what can be achieved may i suggest you follow HudsonRobert & Magpie build logs for inspiration Please bear in mind that not everyones build will be exact to each other due to material,enviroment, your measuring stick (left eye shut right eye 6/20 vision, your interpretation of colour etc) i got heehawed due to lack of plans, not for content, delivery, quality or help from admin MrT Magpie Hudson robert or from other forum members Wishing you every successs with your build but may i suggest this is a 5 anchor difficulty job so if you feel frustrated TAKE A STEPBACK ask the question on the forum and wait untill you feel ready to proceed Sorry for the long girn happy building

hi mate iam on issue 7 and in 4 and issue 5 you get more planks and in 6 you get a thing that the boat sits on for working on the boat hope that helps also in issue 7 is wallnut planks building the spitfire,RMS Titanic hachette and now starting the u-96 submarine

Hi all thanks for all the tips. Managed to get the false deck in ok. Have started planking the false deck. Haven't decided whether to trenail it. I'm really enjoying this model.    Received notification that the next issue is on the way, that'll be number 4 for me, so I can get on to the hull. That's one of my favourite jobs! Kind regards

you gotta trenail it cos it looks the bussiness on a boat that size. just clock robs and magpie , if that dont sway you dont know what will. while we are on the subject of decking ,anybody got a sure fire way of displaying the caulking. i have physically put rigging rope on earlier models but it can be finicky and limits sanding  .any of you guys great ideas will be deeply mulled over and implimented when the time comes.
