As above....just opened issue 46 to fit the sidepod cowls and they are a glossier and brighter red to all the other parts ( same colour ). Now....are all the other parts wrong or right ?? The previous red's are a semi matt finish and this one is much better but I don't want a two colour red car . This is the first real problem I have had and it ain't a small one. Admin...Tommick, advise please....do I bin the kit or are you going to give me some reassurance that this is not the real colour ? HELP !!

Hi Skiddy,
Mine are the same, def a more glossy finish on the latest parts compared to earlier parts. Having looked at the build diaries including Tomicks, they're the same as mine with the latest bit being really glossy.
I have noticed on the deag Japan site that they sell a tamiya glossy coat paint with the McLaren so wondering if we're supposed to gloss these parts once all the decals are fitted???

Hi Guys, Been browsing this forum for a long time and its full of really useful and interesting information. I was baffled when I saw the red on the front and back wings appeared to have a matt finish but was fairly pleased to see the red fairly close to the Mclaren bright rocket red. Seeing these side pods I was hugely disappointed to see the red is totally different but with the gloss. Hope Deag can shed some light on the subject. I was seriously considering spray glossing the front wing and back wing parts anyway with a gloss varnish but I'm unsure if it will affect the silver. Really enjoying the build though if a little scarce at times and love studying Tomicks build for good prep on my own, Thanks for that.

If the colour IS wrong, and De-Ag leave it, I'll probably give the wing parts a coat of 'Klear', keeping away from the silver bits. Amazing stuff, brushes on and dries like glass in 10-15 minutes. If you get it 'wrong', it washes off dead easy with warm water as long as it isn't dry yet. Roy.

Thx for the info but....£600 plus for this kit! I think Deag will sort it.

I've had all the built parts out today, and the red on the cowls looks actually a deeper red than other parts. this may be due to the deeper shine making for a richer finish.
There may be an option to Klear Kote the earlier parts....but what if the cockup gets worse, so I am at a frozen stage in the build atm I'm afraid to say until I have a reply from Tomick.
