hi everyone
i am new to this so i will be on here asking for advise from the people that know.
i have subscribed for the victory and am up to date.cant wait to see the finished project.i now know i have to make space in the garage so i can build it away from little fingers...haha
1st question..any tips on getting experience with the wood side of building without paying the prices for other ships on the site..i have experience in plastic kits but i can see that this is a whole new ball game..
any advise will be greatly accepted.

There are many people here willing to help. It's a really good forum.
Something I'd suggest for getting a feel for wood is to keep an eye on ebay for any auctions, I picked up AL's Endeavour for about £30 this way. Alternativly look for some of the smaller kits that are out there. Midwest does a good line of beginer kits for example.
Not that I've done this but you could also try ordering some strip wood and sheets of ply and try coming up with a small project or two to practice the basics with. Perhaps someone else will have an idea along that vein.
Taken slowly you will do just fine with this model as it is as there will be so much information available on this forum as time passes.

Welcome aboard maximus  This is my first build too and I can say that everyone one here is more than willing to help a fledgling seadog find his sea legs.......or at least I hope so anyway as mine are on back to front at the moment

Welcome At least if you have made lots of sailing ship kits in plastic, you will know what you are doing with the string! (and that's got to be an advantage!) It seems quite a jump from plastic to wood and you are not alone in making this step by any means - but, from my own observations, it's a lot more satisfying. Schnellboots on back burner
