Jase, I have been watching the following item on ebay Item number: 380247937069 Might be a tad small but I have been watching on the basis of price and the fact that other sizes are offered on request. Might be of some help to you. Kind regards Tony Happy Modelling

Hi shipmates I had a look at that item number on Ebay and followed through to his website, and I have to say that his display cabinets look outstanding. I took the trouble to telephone him for a quote for our build and allowing for a case which is 1 inch/25mm larger all round, he came up with a price of... wait for it... £545.00 which includes VAT. The material would be Acrylic 5mm which is extruded and heat welded. They couldn't tell me how much carriage would be for this monster of a case because they go on total volume but he thought it would be at the very least £70, if not more. Obviously, if one was to collect it personally we wouldn't have that expense, but one would need a vehicle big enough for it to fit into. Didn't on of our shipmates on the forum say that he was doing some research into a project for us? That might be a cheaper option! Happy building DavidPS: If anyone is still interested at looking at his website its: www.modeldisplaycases.co.uk

Hi That was me, I've been offline for a while but I am about to start production on an Oak one for Deepseacodmaster. I've dropped jase a pm but they are significantly less than his cost!

didn't you all hear, the new magazine from deagostini if build your own victory case, 140 magazines every week you get a small piece of glass, and some wood to build your own professional looking glass case, the magazine covers the history of glassmaking through the centuries. i believe the series starts on the 1st april on a serious note, over 600pounds for a case including delivery, i assume it has to be very very well made. bluejoe, you better be prepared for a few more. Come on you Jimmies

Hello, I was thinking myself abour display case. I've done some search and I reckon I can get it done for up to £250 (materials) For clear perspex 5mm thick you looking about £150 (cutted to size). The last thing you need to do is glue it together with for example Tensol 12. In terms of base it's up to you. I think I'll go that way so I keep you posted when I have more info. Regards

Anyone that can build one themselves I would always wholeheartedly recommend you do, but its not as simple as just buying some wood and gluing it all together, your going to need some fundemental skills and the right tools.
Everything needs to be jointed properly to give it strength, recesses cut accurately to accept the acrylic sheet and a whole host of other things.
You say you can get materials for around £250, well as an estimate with Acrylic (I've not costed acylic yet but am recommending that route from now on as the sheer weight of the 4mm toughened glass will be massive) it should be around £300
So essentially you can see I'm only charging around £50 for my time, skills and tool wear....

Cheers fella They are just down the road from me so spoken to them, as Im trade I can use them. So taking into account their charges, that makes my total case cost including acrylic approximatly £250.00 + delivery!
