ISSUES 28 AND 29

Hi Team before I continue with Issue 30 I wanted to make sure the Hull and Deck were married together properly.

The first thing I did was cover the inside of the Hull with PVA adhesive, as I am building a static model epoxy adhesive is not needed here is a photo:-

Hi Sean,

If you were doing the R/C version you would need to use the Epoxy adhesive because it would need to be waterproof, PVA would not be enoughBigGrin I hope that answers your question okBigGrin and thank you for your nice commentsBigGrin Regards Mike

ISSUE 16 DECKING BEAMS

I then sanded the frames very well, as per the instructions, but I also sanded the deck beams flush with rib tops which they are attached too.

I spent alot of time on this area in order to fit the Deck flush, and the frames to come in and out freely.

I feel this is one of the most important parts to get right, so please do not rush this stageBigGrin

Hi,

I'm new here so hello and I find your build very helpfull.

The question I have is if my model is going to be static can I glue the deck down rather than have it removable at this part of the build, or do you need to be able to remove it in the future ?

Thanks in advance

Hi Spitfire,

As you progress with the build you will fit parts 116 and 117 to the sides of the stern, at this point make sure you have lined the inner hull with PVA (this will give the ship strength, and prevent the planks from moving)

You could stick down decks 104, 105 and 112 as I have done (you do not need to screw them down,I have done this for my own piece of mind) because these (116 and 117 )parts require glueing to the sides of deck 104 and 105.

I have not glued the other deck pieces yet, just incase the future instructions require us to access the inner hull.

I am about to fix parts 116 and 117.

I hope my answer helps you.BigGrin Regards Mike

Hi Mike, When you screw down the decks on your model what are you screwing into? Did you make and glue wooden blocks or screw into the frames. Reason I ask is I have just received my issues 28-31 and am building a static model so want to fix these deck down but not sure whether to do as you have done or just glue them down.
Cheers.
