Thanks Ian! No problem Erthro, that will be great. After fitting the fighting top, it was time to finish the top section of the lower main mast: I tried cutting the little 2x2x2mm pieces, but that didn't work, so I decided to fit the little "spacers" longer and then trim them off after they have set.   The Main mast with the rubbing pauch fitted and 2 coats of paint:

Thanks bud, Shaping the upper main mast and top gallant  Top of the lower mast with the mast cap fitted  The main topmast and cross trees  I glued the hand-rail as instructed, but it came apart when I test-fitted it - will have to think of another solution.

Ok, so I had to make the join for the hand rail stronger. Drilled 2mm holes, 2mm deep, in the 4x4 and pared the ends of the 3mm dowel down to 2mm. Presto:   The octagonal support on the topgallant - this takes a little longer to get right than one might suspect.

Thanks Hans & Jonny I decided to deviate from the mast pain scheme depicted in the Magazine and paint as per the pictures in the book - it may not be historically accurate, but I like the contrast of the yellow and black. Hand rail painted and fitted: (Apologies for the overexposure)  Top mast painted  Top gallant fitted and painted. (The top ball has now also been painted black)  Cross trees and mast cap fitted  I managed to loose one of the heart shaped blocks so I ended up having to make one from scratch (Left hand side in the picture)  Main mast fitted to the ship.

Thank you very much for your kind comments gentlemen. The fore-mast fighting top is now complete. I've also completed the shaping of the fore-mast  The ring is much easier to paint while fitted to the mast.   Once again I found the fitting of the rear rail on the fighting top tough going. Even though all the holes tie up 100% the supplied wire is very soft and ensuring that the wires are fitted perfectly perpendicular to either the base or the top of the rail is very difficult. Combine this with superglue and the odds of a curse or 2 escaping increases exponentially. I've got an idea to change the construction process - will try it out on the mizzen mast fighting top when I get there and then share with you.

Hi Stefan...I had the same trouble with the rail on both main and fore tops mate..very fiddly, especially when using super glue!! She is looking great though mate!!...

Just sanded back the first coat and applied another coat of paint to the foremast last night, so I won't bore you with those pictures. Also constructed the fore mast cross-trees. The method described in the magazine to keep the cross-trees straight and perpendicular (lining them up on a cutting mat) may work for some, I still wasn't 100% happy with it, so I did the following: 1. Cut little pieces of 5mm wide planking (to space the braces) 2. Used the braces to evenly space 3 lines on 2 longer pieces of hull planking spares. 3. Placed the planks back to back and drilled 3 x 0.75mm holes in the middle of the lines marked in 2 4. Pinned the curved pieces of the cross-trees in the holes marked above 5. Glued the braces to the curved parts and then used the spacers cut in 1 to ensure the braces were spaced 5mm apart. 6. Squared up the assembly and leave it to dry overnight
