Hi there - I am new to this build and just ready to start out. I have read through some of the forum to get a few tips. Firstly can anyone confirm the correct way round to lay the base for the 12 pounders. I have heard that the wider part of the base should be at the back of the cannon ( opposite to the instructions) Please could someone confirm and also are there any other instructions that have found to be wrong

And welcome to the forums!

Welcome stevie! Cool

Just to clear thing's up for you the wide part of the base doesn't go at the front like in issue 1. In issue 14 DeAGOSTINI corrected the mistake and all the cannons should be made with the wide part of the base to the rear of the carriage.

He is a graphic to show the correct setup:-

Since they will all go on the Upper Gun Deck it's not the end of the world.

Have a great break.

If you look on the HMS Victory website the wide part is faceing the rear.

Under the guns heading about halfway down the page.
Best regards.

Hi there Steviegio
and welcome to the forum, hope you have a long and happy voyage.
Happy building
David
P.S. I was going to add my two pence worth of info about the gun carriages but Son of Bulwark's excellent diagram says it all so anything else would be superfluous.
Anyway, once again a warm welcome

Thanks everyone for the welcome and the words of wisdom. Seems like the right way is either way but Son of Bulwark gets my vote as he produced a nice diagram. BTW where did Son of Bulwark come from as my father in law served on that ship in the late 50's - small world.
