SECOND SHEATHING

Here you will see I have started the second planking, some of the planks are thinner than others but this will not be a problem as we will be sanding again when the planking is finished. BigGrin

Prepare your first planking by sanding and shapeing well.

Please make sure you step the planking as in my Photos, and use pins with PVA, to fit the planks, the PVA is easy to wipe off the wood ,contact adhesive is to messy and not easy to wipe off, and the vapours are not good if someone in your family is asphmatic Blink

The secondary planking will make all the diffrence both in strength and looks, enjoying this build Mike looking good

SECOND PLANKING ISSUES 29 to 33

Hi Team,
Here are more photos of the second planking. Please notice the stepping of the planks, we also need to bevel the planks so that each plank butts up to each other as the planks go around the Hull and curved parts.

When I started the second planking at the rear (as per the instructions)I then ignored the sequence in the instructions and planked the whole starboard side in one go, made much more sence to me BigGrin

PS I chose to use lots of pins to fix the planks with PVA adhesive. Please note if you use this method you must fill in all the pin holes before sanding as all blemishes will be seen, it is more important on the second planking than on the first.
I believe the fixing you get with the pins is worth the extra work BigGrin
