I got some of these a while ago from 'Cornwall mb', they are from Amati Fittings and are 3mm brass cannon buckets, they are the nearest to the size we require all the rest are far to big. There are no handles so we will need to sort that out, but I don't think that will be a problem. Jeff

I have had a go at making some buckets of my own, we need about 20 according to pictures on the Victory web site. Could use those mentioned already as provided by Cornwall Models but I like a challange, so here goes. Feedback as always is welcombe and any suggestions for improvement. It occurred to me that the bucket shape is similar (roughly) to an air gun pellet (.177) and these are made of soft lead so easy to work with. Step 1 You will need a former, I made a simple one from a round nail with the point removed and I shaped the end with my dremil grinder. Step 2 Using a small (Tack) hammer attatch the pellet to the end of the nail and hammer it into shape rolling it along the bench as you go until the shape is as required, Mucked up a few but at £5 for 500 you can get plenty of practise. When you have the required shape, I sanded the bottom to make it flatter and a bit smaller, drill two small holes for the handle. I made the handle from a single strand of 13 amp wire, it is very soft and again easy to work with. Finally paint it black. Still thinking about adding the lettering and date. Dont think my eyes are good enough or my hands steady enough No two buckets are the same and I think this adds to the effect as the original where made of leather and must have been all shapes. Not sure what to use for the sand to fill the buckets, any suggestions GilShapley attached the following image(s): Current Build:- [color=blue]Stash Avro Lancaster (Full Kit)plus some extra issues I picked up at a good price [color=blue]Built:- Norman Catapult by Mantua,Roman Catapult by Mantua,HMS Victory,HMS Victory XSection,Focker DB1,Bismark,English Carronade Titanic Lifeboat,American Civil War Gatling,Hummer,Sopwith Camel F1,Occre Jupiter ,OcCre Wagon, Latina Arab Dhow, Eaglemass Orrery OcCre Rogers 119 [color=red][color=red]RB7,OcCre Missippi River Boat, Model Airways Fokker DR1 OcCre London L>C>C 106 Ugears Scrambler, Ugears Hexapod Explorer UGears Off-Road Vehicle

Concerning the sand to fill the buckets with, my local Antics model shop has small bags of sand for this purpose, quite cheap as well. Roger the Cabin Boy

Well I thought you might like to see how I got on some 20 buckets later I have tried to create some transfers to add the GR logo but the scale seems to be too small. Whilst I can create some transfers once attached to the buckets they are not readable so I think I will go without. I have modified my original plan to make the buckets more conical. More in line with the pictures I have seen of the original buckets. Only have to figure a way of attatchment. Still will be walking the decks of HMS Victory,Camara in hand, next week. So that hopefully will give me some ideas As always sugestions will be welcombe GilShapley attached the following image(s): Current Build:- [color=blue]Stash Avro Lancaster (Full Kit)plus some extra issues I picked up at a good price [color=blue]Built:- Norman Catapult by Mantua,Roman Catapult by Mantua,HMS Victory,HMS Victory XSection,Focker DB1,Bismark,English Carronade Titanic Lifeboat,American Civil War Gatling,Hummer,Sopwith Camel F1,Occre Jupiter ,OcCre Wagon, Latina Arab Dhow, Eaglemass Orrery OcCre Rogers 119 [color=red][color=red]RB7,OcCre Missippi River Boat, Model Airways Fokker DR1 OcCre London L>C>C 106 Ugears Scrambler, Ugears Hexapod Explorer UGears Off-Road Vehicle
