Hi Rob,

And a big warm welcome to the Model Space site and the forum. You will find plenty to hold your interest here. I see you have subscribed to the Mitsubishi Zero part work. Well first port of call should be the official build diary by Tomick, if you follow that you won't go far wrong. If you have any questions or want to know anything just ask. There are many experienced modellers on here and someone will know the answer to your questions. Anyway, nice to meet you and have fun. BigGrin

Regards BigGrin

First two pictures look overdone so been trying better photos, All new to me.

This one still looks a bit exaggerated, looks better in the flesh.

Nice paint job, though as far as I know, Aotake blue was only applied in the wheel wells, interior panels, and spanning internal bulkheads.

Hi Tomick thanks for the input, I have been following snapdragons build he painted the crankcase aotake, he seems to have done a lot of research if its wrong i can change it.

Hi Jase you have me confused, Tomick is not sure if the crankcase is aotake, you say it should be egg blue, i have used a mix of 4 parts x23 clear blue, one part x25 clear green, 4 parts x21 flat base, all tamiya, i used tamiya primer then gave a base coat of x32 titanium silver.

Jase i did not see your build thread could you please give me a link to it.

I didn't say I was unsure but as far as I know.

If you google Aotake, you'll discover many sources which indicate that the coating was applied as noted.

You can also buy it from LifeColor, White Ensign or Mr Hobby.

Out of interest, there was also a distinct aotake tone difference between the Mitsubishi and Nakajima produced aircraft.
