Hi everyone.
Just to try and lighten the mood slightly after all of this colour mis-match angst.
I was just wondering what all the wife's and girlfriend's or even husband's and boyfriend's think of our little project...Laugh
My girlfriend doesn't understand at all... I kindof dry assembled it the other day, put it in the display case and everything, just so she could see what all the fuss was about.
"Look honey" i said "doesn't that look amazing?"
She just stood there with her hands on her hips, raised her eyebrow's and looked at me as if i was nuts... And i could almost read her mind, i knew exactly what she was thinking. Number one.... She was thinking "For the price of this piece of crap i could go to Malta for a fortnight.!! And number two... "And where do you think you are going to put it when it's finished??"
Ring any bells for anyone ???

Chris..

Same here..she never understands the "art" of model making.. Want's to know where its going to go when its finished too.. Tried explaining that because of my hobbie is one of the reasons why the house looks so good!!... Maybe if she tried it then her make-up skills would improve too!!! typing this on phone as keys don't fit locks!!Blink

I must be the luckiest guy alive here......
My other half (Samantha) loves F1, but that's it.
HOWEVER.....
Over the past 3 years she has bought me a 1/12 Tamiya Lotus 49, the Lotus 72, the Lotus 78, the 1/12 Nichimo Lotus Europa, 1/12 Porsche 935, 1/12 Lola T70, 1/8 Revell E-Type Jaguar and COUNTLESS smaller kits.
She absolutely ENCOURAGES my hobby.
(She also bought me a Hank Marvin signature Burns guitar - over £1,000 - because I foolishly sold my original years ago.)
NO - She isn't rich!!! She has a part time, poorly paid job in a school admin office.
Whenever I see a 'bargain' kit on Ebay, she tells me to buy it! (I've currently got a stash of around 50-60 kits....)
My finished models are displayed proudly in the dining room - I have a glass display cabinet containing 36 x 1/43 models and shelves with around a dozen large models......
She follows my McLaren bits with 'reasonable' interest and has almost ORDERED me to sign up if Senna's car hits our shores.
I even have my own new shed in the garden for painting purposes - at her insistance. I LOVE sitting in it, listening to the rain hitting the roof!
NO.... She isn't for sale!
NO... You can't buy her!
Mind you, I did buy her a new Audi A4 recently for her birthday (her favourite car)....
Keep 'er indoors' happy - you won't regret it!

Roy.

My other half doesnt understand one bit and iv showed her bits im doing and she just looks at me and says your a special boy but i love you. she seems to think that the finished model is gonna go in our bedroom but she is very much mistaken, im currently building a big extension on the back of my property to make the living room bigger and if she thinks that my model is not going in there shes got another thing coming. I always win and tell her that im the man of the house.

i do my models up in the loft, iv not converted it but just took over a little corner with a desk and shelves, its away from the other half and the kids. iv got alot of hamiltons minichamps cars that i also collect and have built many revell kits.

so basically she dont understand it but she lets me get on with it.
