Hi everyone.. Just a quick post to anyone who is thinking of getting some extra detailing decal sheets off the web. Specifically the Johnnie Walker decals. It's pretty easy to get these extra sheets off the web. Just go on e-bay and type in 1/8 Mclaren or something similar and a couple of options will appear. However at about 25 pounds apiece these don't come cheap. And there is a slight issue with the JW decals. They are a bit of a squeeze to get to fit. When Deag or Kyosho designed the kit, i'm assuming they made the decision to not have alcohol advertising on the car. Which is fine but i think when they put it together they realised that the rear wing looked a bit bare. So they raised ever so slightly the SCHUCO advertising.... This means that when you put the JW decals on it looks a bit cramped. On the left side i had to move the decal slightly forward so the top of the J in Johnnie would fit in a slight raise in the wing. On the right side it was a complete nightmare. I had to completely cut the figure off the sheet and reapply it lower on the wing or he would have been cut off at the shoulder.. See pics.... Now i am unsure if i like it like this or not. Some days i look at it and i like it, on others i'm not so sure. But i guess i'd rather have it on than not. And you do get some nice extra bits and pieces on these sheets that do add greatly to the model. In fact at the moment i'm waiting for a sheet to be delivered that has extra cockpit and tyre details. So i think i'm hooked... Anyway... Hope this helps for those of you that are looking to take your build a bit further..

I think I'll probably print my own and make them a tad smaller than they should be. Ditto for the small ones on the mirrors. Again, not 'correct' but better than none at all. Roy.

Hi Warthog. Yeah I know the guy you go to. It's JJ in Ipswich. I've used him before for other builds, but when I went to get the cockpit and tyre sheet he had just ran out and didn't know if he was getting more in. I know that cause I e-mailed him. So had to bite the bullet and go for the expensive option I'm afraid.. Ho Hum....
Ps. Where are you going to get all the other sets from..?? I've only seen the three sets like you say. The nose, the rear wing and the tyre and cockpit... ???? I've seen the quality of your work mate and if you are doing a total re-spray job you are going to need sheets for everything.. Looking amazing by the way..:-)

Surely its a case that the Schuco logo has been enlarged as aposed to raised? It looks quite tight at the bottom of the logo and the end of the wing, so any lower would cut the bottom of the "r" and "W" off? I'd love to get the extra decal sets, It's just that I hate doing decals at the best of times let alone giving myself extra ones to put on a kit! O I love putting the decals on. It's the best bit surely.. :-)) But don't worry about these, they seem to be made of sterner stuff than the ones I remember back in the days of my airfix models... And the JW ones are quite large so they won't curl up. Just use some tweezers and some patience.. It's the extra bits on the sheet that can be a bit fiddly.. Check out the picture, there are six extra decals that what you would find on a standard build..

I saw the pics of yours, I got the Schuco ones and am not too impressed with them tbh. Any phone numbers or email details would be great. Current builds: McLaren MP4-23 1/8 Aston Martin DB5 1/8
