Indeed :) There are some excellent models and it's great to see other people's work. The great thing about these forums is that somebody will be able to help, whatever the problem.

Hi there Karl...I would like to ask you a couple of questions mate regarding your Cutty Sark build please. Was it a Del Prado Build? If so the ratlines on the mainmast, have you got them coming down to the deck from behind the mast or in front, as with my Del Prado build, they are coming down and secured in front according to Del Prado instruction card..yet I have seen many other models of Cutty Sark where the ratlines are descending to the rear of the mainmast. Much obliged...John Current Builds: Deagostini HMS Victory: Deagostini HMS Sovereign of the seas. Completed Builds: Del Prado: HMAS Bounty: Hachette: RMS Titanic: Del Prado: Cutty Sark...

The only models I have made since Airfix kits as a kid were metal figures for wargaming. Am a bit of a fan of the Victory and Nelson though - so when I saw this I would have a go. Very nervous though - the level of detail and complexity is way more than I was expecting. Certainly a far cry from the Plastic Airfix Victory my father and I made when I was eight.

Just for the sake of accuracy. The rigging that you are referring to is not the ratlines. The long cables coming from the mast down to the deck are the shrouds and form part of the standing rigging which keeps the masts in place. The ratlines are in fact the relatively light weight ropes which are tied across the shrouds and provide the sailors with a 'ladder' to climb the rigging. Hope this helps keep the forum ship shape and bristol fashion! Mike T

The last time i tried to make a model it was a plastic merlin eh101, modeled om the tiger 69 zh860 helicopter. i couldnt make it, it just all went wrong. (it would not be so bad if i had not spent 2 years fixing the actual real helicopter!!!!)
