[quote=saintsman123]I think you should check with mrT , as I think it looks ok. There should be a groove for bow sticky out bit to fit in.

look at the official build diary.

Dontshootme is correct in saying that the stern frames need to be level with the keel which lies between them, it appears there is a slight groove.

Hi Rob,

If I were in your position, I would remove the 3 row of planking that you have done at the bow and refit them, but with much more tapering towards the bow, i.e. have the planks taper from 5mm to 2.5mm from about frame 12 towards the box. After that, follow the instructions in the magazine and have a look at the different build dairies. I got about halfway down the hull before realising that I have not faired the ribs around the bow enough :(

Hi StefanDV,
strange you should say that,it crossed my mind to take them off and redo them,as they just did not look right, not enough taper on them did look iffy.I seen some of the builds and they were rising up and not straight if you know what I mean and I was going for straightBlushing Blushing Blushing.
I just wanted to get it done I suppose(big mistake)I will do that at the weekend.I think now it is time for patienceCool Cool.
cheers mateyBigGrin BigGrin

Hi Guys, latest pics of my build, does it look ok so far as I have filled the frames with balsa wood which has helped to get the line right.
Bow and stern has three (one to go)bow looks the same, the two stern planks have not been glued yet just needed some advice if they look ok or not.I have been a very long time trying the bend,Crying Crying still does not look right but will it be ok??Huh

Hi Rob, I completed 11 rows of planking before I needed to taper planks looks like you are in the same situationBigGrin so now when you fit a plank let it follow the path it wants to, then you taper it to fit that track. If you have triangular spaces (you should get these)then fit a piece of timber cut to fit that space (called stealers)please continue to soak the plank, fit it without adhesive with pins, let it dry overnight, then you will find the shape will be fixed.then fit it with adhesive.BigGrin also put a bevel on the plank as it says in the instructions so it fits tight upto the next plankBigGrin

Your stern planks look fineBigGrin Regards Mike

The planking's looking fine Rob. Well done - you're making great progress. Re the bending of the planks - what Mike (MWG) said.

Thank you all for your tips and confidence boost,it does help I can assure you. I have a kitchen (food)steamer and a electric plank bender which I use for the planks, seems to work ok with the bending of the planks.

Nice Hedgehog LOL!

You can take the pins out as soon as the glue has set. I started every planing session by removing the pins from the previous session. (The little side-cutters in the free toolkit works very well for this)
