Hi Davy

I ordered mine through Amazon uk from a company called Isca models. May not be cheapest (although I did not check) but they were sent very quickly and turned up 2 days later.

I have never used this stuff either and am very nervous about the wrinkling whilst the magic happens but am also very excited about the end result and am pretty confident about applying it. Cool

Hi all I've used micro sol/set for many years now I know you can get on E bay, I get mine from any good model shop or on the Internet BigGrin .When I use it I tend to use a hair dryer on a very low setting to put some heat on the part it pushes the decal down and helps it to dry never had any probs yet!!!!!. When it is fully dry I give 1 or 2 coats more just to make sure it sets down.....Brian.....

Thanks for the info guys.
Still trying to make my mind up about the carbon fibre decals and if im going to use them.I would need them to be perfect as my eye would always train on any faults. Its the body work decals im concerned about.
Micro sol,set may give me the confidence to give the carbon a try.

davyp1 ......... best thing to do, buy yourself a cheap airfix kit and just experiment with the decals, you will be amazed with what you can pull off after a few test pieces! ........ plus if you discover your a natural at it, you chip airfix kit will look a fantastic and wont end up as bin fodder...... :-)

Cheers Trunkmonkey.
Its more the shape of the suspension arms and having to dismantle im worried about.I take it youll be taking the arms apart again to apply these?Taking apart the rear would be tricky at this stage surely.

Has anybody received the issue with the decals yet? I'm just curious to know what parts the decals are for other than just suspension parts.

I think I read somewhere that you can add the Carbon decals without taking the suspension apart???

Will be very interesting...BigGrin

I'm a bit undecided, if they are not applied perfectly the model could be ruined as they are on such prominent parts.

I can't imagine anyone is going to look at the finished model and say 'that's amazing but it could do with carbon decals on the suspension!' only the well informed will even notice.

It might be best to wait untill some other forum members have applied them and can give an objective view on how they look.

Must admit I'm not overly sold on them either

Looking at the finished article on the Japanese build sites it doesn,t grab as looking amazing, especially for the huge amount of effort needed to fit them

Might just hold on to these bad boys and see how everyone else's kit comes out!

Looking at the detail photo's of the real car somewhere else on this forum, the rear suspension has some large areas that are gold foiled or plated.
What about these bits???
Do we get the foil as well, or will we need to add it ourselves?
B.M.F is pretty good and they do it in gold too.
Roy.

The gold foil bits came with issue 34 if my memory is correct so you should have it somewhere mate but it's for the airbox not suspension?

I'll have to look at the pics again, but the rear suspension arms definitely have gold plated (?) parts.
I'll add them with B.M.F if they aren't included.

The gold foiling was mainly found on the rear wishbones on the MP4-22 but not on the 23 as far as I can tell from pictures I have (and I have a lot) I can only imagine the heat containment around that area on the 23 was a lot better so was not needed..

hope this helps mate
