Thanks Jonny! Finished off all the steps last night. Some pictures of the port side: Due to the spacing, the last step that had to be fitted was 2nd from the top Which meant the last step needed 2 steps at the back to fit between the top moulding and the channel moulding: All done:

Thanks for your most gracious comments lads! The spacers for the fenders glued on, you can also see the fender that will be fitted near the bow drying on the model. (Port Side) Fitting the fenders was a multi-day process: I first soaked the 2x2mm strips and then let them dry against some spare rib-frames I had. Then I glued the top part to the spacers, and let that dry. (Starboard side) Then I proceeded to glue the bottoms of the fenders to the lower spacers and held it in place with a cutoff.

The bottoms of the fenders cut to size and rounded. The rails at the top of the fenders fitted and rounded. View of the completed fenders on the Starboard side. 3rd coat of yellow ochre on and drying. Starboard side masked - ready for the black stripes: I have to admit - the painting of the stripes is quite scary for me. I wish we had a bigger picture (maybe same size as the mast fold-outs) that showed their spacing a little better.

Good looking job there Stefan. You can see that you put a lot of effort into your work. I do believe you have enough experience now to interprete the magazine correctly as well as follow some of the other builds. Good luck and well done Rgds, Hans "It's okay to make mistakes. mistakes are our teachers - they help us to to learn, even if it is painfully" Current Build: Endeavour Cross section,D51 Completed: HMS Victory Under the bench: Endeavour x 2,Sovereign of the Seas, Akagi and The Black Pearl!HMS Victory Cross Section

Thanks for the compliments Peter & Hans. Hans, you are probably correct, but I still prefer to work from a detailed set of plans or instructions (which is how the series was positioned, and everyone pays for). This is one of the most visible and immediately striking parts of the model. Even the diagram showing where the wales go was larger and more detailed than the paint stripes picture.

Thanks lads, I've painted the stripes. (2nd and 3rd coats still to be applied to the starboard side in this pic) But I'm very disappointed with the way that it turned out! Lots of bleeding and the stripes themselves are very uneven. Lot's of rework required!

Hi Stefan, read somewhere on the forum, after sticking the tape you first seal the tape with the yellow and then you do the black, I've tried it and it works just fine, Pierre Current Buid: HMS Victory Next Build: Captain Cook's Endeavour Collecting issues Wish List: Santa Ana Bounty Santisima-Trinidad

One thing I learned very quickly was that this was not simply about building a ship from a kit. It seems that the repairing due to mistakes in the instructions, mistakes in the kit itself, my errors along the way and me braking bits off as I am making it, are all part of the process. Latest is on the tiling (I thought that would be a doddle).
Continue to be disappointed, that's how we get good.
John
