sorry about the quality of the photo.

Whose is this case??? Damn impressive!!!Drool Drool

Hi, Thanks for the comment, I built it myself. I thought instead of spending 80 odd quid on one from ebay I would rather build one myself and probably save a few quid plus have it to the spec that i want it.

Welcome to the forum mate, That looks stunning.
Care to share how you built it?!

Thanks,

Firstly I got the glass cut at a local glass cutting company. The 4mm glass was cut to 2 x 700mm x 300m, and 2 x 300mm x 300mm cuts. I stuck the glass together with clear silicone using right angle clamps to hold them in place, leaving it 48 hours to set and dry. Then I got black glass spray paint and sprayed the back side of the glass. I used 15mm Ali corner to stick down the side of glass. it also keeps the glass at right angles.

For the base i got 3mm hardboard cut to 4 x 730mm x 330mm. then 18mm x 40mm sawn timber. I stuck the saw timber around the hardboard then stuck another piece of hardboard on top to sandwich the timber. The base should then be 24mm thick. I bought 3D textured carbon fibre vinyl from ebay, using a hair dyer to soften the vinyl then peeling and sticking it to the top of the base. The top is the same principle apart from drilling 5 holes into the bottom of the top Base to put the LED's in, and putting the carbon fibre vinyl on both top and bottom of the top base. I also left the top hardboard of the top base unstuck so I could access the LED's.

For the top and bottom base I used 25mm x 15mm Ali corner to run along the edges. I stuck it down using no-nails adhesive, but for the top base I left the back piece of Ali corner off and screwed it instead. This is so I could slide the top hardboard out to access the LED's.

As for the Vodafone Mclaren Mercedes sticker I ordered it from a website, size 400mm.

I hope this helps anyone who wants to build their own display case.

Any more questions please ask.

Maybe from here BigGrin had all the design... sizes... instructions for anyone to copy on here, but due to the colour problem I was about to exit the whole thing as there was nothing coming back from admin so deleted it, especially when people that use this site for a business copy your design and make money from it ( not goonerscott ) but you know who you are !!
