Looks like you are going to do some serious reading there Castos. It would appear you have model ship building covered from top to bottom and side to side.

Thanks Hans and Stefan. At bthis stage I am not bored as I am halfway through the Shipmodel Builders Assistant and it has given me a good insight into rigging and terminology. By the time I start rigging I will half some knowledge about rigging.

As all on this forum are some type of historian, I want to show everyone some picture I have taken here in Afghan Land.

This is my work and it takes me all over the eastern half of the country.

In this photo, if you look at the top of the hill (left) you will see some broken down mud walls. This as remnants of watch towers used by Alexander The Great when he was enroute to India.

This photo shows a fort. The building on the inside were built by the Russians during their invasion of Afghan and is now used by the Afghan Police. The mud structure behind the double storey long building and the fort walls, were built by Alexander The Great and it was here that he stayed while replenishment was taken place.

Thanks for allowing me to share some of the world's history to you all.

Cheers

Andre

Thanks Pierre.

Advice/help Required.

I have started doing the Poop Deck and have noticed that the deck finishes level with the height of the bulwarks at the stern gallery. Is this correct? When I look at the magazine it does not look the same.

Do I:

1. Leave it as is?
2. Add an extra deck plank to the bulwarks to increase the height?
3. Cut away part of the rib to lower the deck height?

Thanks in advance for the advice/assistance.

Hi Castos,

I may be able to help, but I'm not quite sure what you mean when you say the poop deck finishes level with the bulwarks at the stern gallery. Have you got any pics?

Thanks Stefan.

Do not have pics as I removed the deck when I saw the problem. I am speaking about the sides of the boat where they meet the Stern Gallery. I have laid the planks joining the ribs and when I place the deck planking on them the lie level with the sides of the boat at the Gallery.

I am looking at the official build (issue 58) and it looks similar to the way mine is going. I am going to re-read that issue of Mr T's build and then see if I can make heads or tails of it.

Will attempt again and if nothing will re-post with photo's.

This is what mine looked like, if it's of any help:

I added a support plank to the gallery to make the deck more sturdy at the back.

Remember that you're still going to be extending the hull upwards by adding a couple of planks.

Thanks Stefan and Pierre.

It looks like I did not look at the build instructions properly and must have overlooked the instructions where the extra 3x3 are installed. Your photos show exactly the same as mine.

Once again thanks to all.

Good Day

Here are photos as promised.

Preparing to lay the planks for the Poop Deck, with the cabins installed.

Completed Poop Deck with Bulwark reinforcement. As can be seen had a little help with the sanding.

Completed decks. I mixed walnut stain with wood sealer to get the colour for the decks.

Halfway.

Started on the Fighting top.

Cheers

Have started on the Lower main mast. Please confirm. I have completed the top part (squaring to 8mm) the second part states that I must make 3 flat sides. The way I understand it is that the one side must be 5mm wide tapered to 3mm wide (does this mean that the mast will slightly smaller than 10mm?) and the two sides on either side of this must be flat to a width of 8mm, and the side opposite to the tapered side stays round?

Please explain as I do not understand the instruction as per the magazine.

Thanks in advance.
