Well having read all the comments, Iv'e decided to make my own, in fact the first part of the mold is done already. I don't think Mclaren can stop these tyres being made, firstly the tyres a loaned to the teams, secondly the model tyres are not specific, the markings come off easily so they are just Tyres! Once the mold is made I will make a wax copy and cut the tread, if I cant buy them, well this is the answer.

Making them for yourself isn't a problem...but making them to sell and marketed as such is...

Having asked the opinions of several people who know about the legal implications so-called, the consensus of opinion is I can make as many as I like and do with them as I wish, that goes for Helmets and Decals.

I'll get shot down for this no doubt, but anyone willing to pay £140+ for 4 x 3" model tyres is shot to bits. For that I could get a Tamiya 1/12 plus the paints, adhesives etc and build another car.......... Once the McLaren is finished, and a few years down the line when the novelty has worn off, I wonder if the buyer will look at their £140+ tyres and see such a bargain? I will have my £650-ish model, they will have their £800-ish model and apart from a tread pattern, what will be the difference????? Mind you, each to their own. Now I'll duck and hide from the flack......LOL... (All meant in fun, the spirit of the forum, and NOT offensively!) Good luck to whoever bids. I just wish I was SELLING them!
Roy.
