Well done Hans - she's looking spectacular! All the extra effort and detail you're putting in is really paying off.

Hans,
Hello, I have just looked at your post ! welcome to the miniature world, your furniture look's very much the part,it's pleasing to see your effort as I am well aware of what it takes to complete,it just shows the skill level you have.I think the day cabin with the lights look's as if you are about to sit for a meal, as for the red curtins and round table spot on Hans. Also to take in to consideration that you had to remove the Galley without damage and to go to all this that's dedication.
The upper deck, I think the cannons look the part, along with your colour of the deck all in all great effort, look forward to more pictures.

regards trev.

Thanks Trev. Trust me when I say the skill still needs plenty of honing. I found that jewellers head gear with varying lenses helps a lot. Makes life a little easier not to mention seeing better.
Thanks for the compliments and encouragement.

hans this is a guy in the uk's work, i have seen him on t.v. a few times and as far as miniature work goes, i think he is the master. he uses things like the hair from a fly as paintbrushes......yes a fly...., and has to slow his heart rate down, and paint in time with his heartbeat to avoid the slightest movement. some of the sculptures are made from a single grain of rice.

Thanks Bob, very very impressive, the guy must have a extreme amount of patience, particularly with figures. I'm not sure I'll go that far. This was purely an exercise to be slightly different and take owership of the ship and make it personal. Although must admit liked the idea of being challenged, especially as this is my first build.

Hi Hans,

That's a really neat build you've got there, and its a credit to you. Can you tell me what you used to get such a glossy finish on the hull in post 30?

Regards
Glenn

Hi Glenn, thanks for the encouragement.
I used a 25% reduced imbuia matt varnish on the deck and teak gloss varnish on the hull. It is the type used on outside wooden decking for our harsh sunny conditions. I only used three coats with a light sanding in-between coats, to avoid it showing up too yellow. I brushed it on and it closed up the brush marks quite well. Hope this helps.

Hi all, for those that might be interested,I discovered a 12 volt LED strip that come in 5 metres flexible self adhesive roll and you are then able to cut every 3 LED's. It has a positive and negative patch on either end, where you can solder the wires in series for corners, bends, extentions etc. I have used a fine comms cable, the one used for security gates and intercoms, that I strip for the lenghts I need. A laptop 12 volt battery charger reduces our 220v to 12vdc. Looks fantastic when lit. If it helps I can post the specs. I have not found that the LED's produce too much heat, it only provides 4.8 to 5w alum. The strips themselves appear to be a foil of sorts that defuses the heat as well. Trust this helps your cause.
