Hi Andy! What a nice plan of the Akagi it is. I think it will surely help your enhancements. Also I was always waiting for the parts from DeAGOSTINI Japan, when I built it. I sometimes useed the waiting time to make aircrafts and boats being enhanced. Best Regards, Yutaro DeAGOSTINI 1/250 the YAMATO, 1/250 the AKAGI. Its the truth, yours, mikes and karls are very useful to the novice not forgetting the official build but I find that the most useful tips come from other modelers rather than the instructions please keep the info and ideas coming

Akagi update, Thanks again Ger C for your comments as i said before im happy my efforts are appreaciated by others on the forum. Now for the gripe pack 12 arrived today but still waiting for pack 11 as it is now out of stock when i tried to reorder[ has a sneaking suspicion it was out of stock before my name hit the posting list] . But i suppose its a blessing in disguise as im waiting on the plans i sent for to arrive so il still have scope for any changes needed.Still not a happy bunny though as this puts me 3 months behind with the build regards Andy Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

Hi All the port side hangar is now compleated to date [Mr T has said there may be more to add]my way of doing this was to add the end part and then the top cover and finaly the other end cover, this allows you to pull in the hangar side that was bent in the previous month[circled on the inner view pic],no real problems were encountered here.As ussual i prepared the metal bits removing any burr's and blemishes that showed,at this point in MR T's build its pointed out that the ply parts dont match up with the metal bits but with some carefull lining up you can keep the sanding back to a minimum. In between the metal sides there is a small fillet of wood to be added to close a gap[about 6mm wide],after looking at the plans iv recieved this gap should lead to a small access corridor, perhaps this was to be included in an early design stage but was removed at a later date, also the plans show that the metal parts follow the contours of the ships side quite accuratly[apart from the missing corridor].So now you have a choice either follow Yaturo's enhancment or the build as supplied,i chose to use the parts suplied and will add the extra cabins/storage area's myself. As ussual all comments and questions are welcome regards Andy arpurchase attached the following image(s): Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

Hi Andy! You have done fine job! I am looking forward to see your next job. By the way, you can read Chinese letters "通路", can't you? I guess you can enjoy watching the plans of the Akagi if you can read the letters on them. Best Regards, Yutaro DeAGOSTINI 1/250 the YAMATO, 1/250 the AKAGI. Hi Yaturo unfortunatly my Chinese is as poor as my Japanes ie non exsistant the plans have both english and chinese characters on them but its still not hard to work things out. Also after looking at the plans more closely the coridor has a door at a right angle to where i marked it making it an internal coridor with an external door to the deck at that posisition, but still a feature of why that gap is actualy there regards Andy Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

Hi All i have now fixed all the decks and the two fillits to the hull and today did a lot of filling and sanding. Now for a problem that i found and some of you might come across also, the build states that there will be overhangs on either side of the hull when the decks are atached to the hull where it recomends filler to obtain the curvature of the hull to the deck.at the bow this was prety much equal on both sides but at the centre where the upper 1st and 2nd deck plates meet i found that the overhang was less than 0.25 mm for me and that as the decks followed back to the shaped sections the overhang was unequal on either side plus quite large [see 1st pic].where the shaped sections were added at the stern i also had very little overhang except where the ply deck under these shaped sections were added. My solution to this quandry was to keep the overhang from the bow to the 0.25 section and sand back to the hull all sections to the rear of this point. The plans i have do not show this curvature from the hull to the deck but show a more straight type edge joint.I then filled all the gaps on the decks where its needed, after the fitting of the decks i have a hump around the rear lift area and also the stern section is about 1mm lower the the deck but Mr T has said that a fillet of ply is provided to even up the stern area at a later date.As ussual all comments and questions are welcome regards Andy arpurchase attached the following image(s): Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

hi andy,as I'm upto issue 13 I am somewhat ahead of you,as you are clearing your decks so to speak a little info.on the placements of superstructures.the fore and aft lifts are the guides here, and as you make the various bit and bobs,it soon becomes clear that the slots in the decks don't mean a lot, tomake things easier for me I sanded all the tabs off my bits that were supposed to fit in the deck slots and then filled the slots with wood and filler.when you come to make the upper deck hangers they have to fit inside the lower hangers so carefully build up your hangers.I will put up some pics soon. Hi Karl Thanks for the info on the hangers and yes i too have noticed there pot luck as guidance slots but i think il wait until i recieve all the lift gubbings and fit them to the lifts before i glue them on the deck then il add the hanger sides all in one go[i think Mr t has mentioned something about this in the official build]. So at the moment im making all the various parts ready for the mad 'lets build a hangar day' ,i still have a lot of work on the hull to do aswell, right now im pondering on wether to do Yaturos steel sheat method or to do as i did on the Yamato regards Andy PS i now have issue's 11 and 12 so im one issue behind you Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

Hi All more pics of the hull,iv sealed and sanded back then used my ussual yellow filler primer but then ran out ,so off i went to my local 'we sell anything cheap store' and spoted a chinese brand primer filler[grey colour] a couple of pounds cheaper than the one i usaly use.Bad move as the fumes from said filler/primer nearly choked me to death, after asking a friend i was advised that the primer/filler i had should only be used in an industrial spray unit with full ventilation and a separate air supply face mask for the sprayer.Good job i used it all up i think .I will say it sands back very easily and now im 90% ready[theres still a couple of places to fill i missed] for a couple of light coats of primer then the top coat.Im still making up the various hangar components and these will be fitted after all the lifts are compleated with there lifting gear and gled in place. As always any comments and questions are welcome regards Andy arpurchase attached the following image(s): Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

Hi All not been posting much lately as i have been waiting for the lift internal parts as there easyer to fit inside the lifts before they are glued permamently to the hull[Yaturo's recomendation]. So this morning i got delivery of pack 13 with the internal gubbings for two lifts so its now a case of fitting these internals then attaching the two lifts permamently. Then i can start to attach the hangar components to the hull up to the second lift, piks of progress to follow regards Andy Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .
