Ugh! I just had to rip 4 layers of planking off BOTH sides of my hull. A word of warning to anyone still in the early stages of planking, check your tapers, champhers and droppers. I made a mess of my first dropper plank, and had to undo 2 days of work because as I went on, it just got worse! (I am in the region of issue 35. Part time modeller, full time biker

Ouch not nice. Suggestion, offer up the plank into position, shape and dryfit. If you are happy, soak, offer up, fit and clamp overnight. Not my idea, comes off the forum, I think I saw it on MWG builds. Works well for me as well, when I started suffering with the hull, worked like a charm. Hi Quintin, Sorry to hear about your trouble, believe me, I've been there!! I agree with Hans...I soaked and fitted all the planks on my build, let them dry in place then finally shaping them as to fit where needed...had no problems what so ever... all sorted now, i had shaped a couple of planks badly, (I am mirroring the sides as I go, so if there is a mistake on one side, it will be on both) so as I planked further, the mis-shape got progressively worse. Best bet was to cut out the offending planks and start over. I also decided I hadn't shaped the transom too well, so figured while I was hacking stuff out, I would cut all those planks out too. Arse end is nicely shaped now, so tomorrow, I will fill in all the holes and re-do the stern section. Part time modeller, full time biker

All sorted, I have managed to replace all the planks I sliced out, with no visible damage. I now have a stern wihout 90 degree bends,it looks much better, and the keel fits in better. Much coolness, 70's rock in the background and the ship is coming on well, I may even be able to finish the hull before the weekend. Part time modeller, full time biker
