Nice and neat bit of decking there Mo, I will be interested to see how you tackle going round the ribs or are you not fitting a border plank and just letting the walls cover it

Meh. Yes I would like a border plank, I may have glued some decking to close to the edge, what's done is done, and I will cross that bridge when I get to it,

Been getting quite a lot done on my build the last few weeks, But I now have a few jobs to do, work wise, so I can see a little less getting done from Monday onwards,
I have now given the hull 3 coats of Danish Oil, as the instructions say, 3 coats, 5 hours apart, paint on and let soak into the grain for 5 to 10 min's, then wipe dry with a lint free cloth, Very happy again with the way it is looking, Just thought I needed to celebrate the hull being finished, I thought I would never get there. I bought 2 elm tree pumps, and I am now in the process of trying to get these made up, to look like something half decent. Also glueing in the cannon ball's to the rack's. I still have to complete the rubbing steaks, I have a timber to go above the gunports, and I have a timber to fix through the center of the gun ports, I seem to remember seeing some cut out's to be done later on the timber through the center of the gun ports, I really dont want to use walnut for that, as I think it will be to hard to cut out, I will try to see if I can get a softer timber for that one.

My next job has been the positioning and rigging of the cannons, Quite a lot of fiddly work here, I got most of my tips from "son of bulwarks " build on the Victory builds, I have fixed 3 cannons and got them rigged with the block and tackles, I am happy at my first ever attempt to do this, It took me abou 4 hours to do the first one, but now I am doing them quicker, I had previously made rope coils, to put at the cannon sides, but the rope I used was to thick to go through the blocks, I have done one cannon with them, but as this cannon is hidden under the deck I am going to leave it and try to make coils out of the same material, Hope to get a lot better at this before I do the top deck cannons.Mo Mo

I have now got one side of cannons fitted and rigged with blocks and rope, But I still have to get a rope put through the eyes at the back of the cannon rig, that's the rope that goes through the eye on the cannon barrel, I will attempt this in due course,
Harty asked me if I was putting a border plank round the top deck, And to be honest I had not really thought about that, I have glued 3 planks together to form the bulwarks for the top deck. I am going to put the ply deck in place, place the border plank round the sides, and mark its position on the partially planked deck. I will then plank to the lineto the line of the border plank before fitting the deck. Which really means the top deck will be fully planked, inc the border plank before fitting, and after it is fitted all I have to do is fit the bulwarks wich has been pre formed, sounds ok, but we will se what happens in reallity. The pre formed bulkarks 3 planks wide. Sanded ready for use. I will work away at this in between fitting the last 6 cannons.

Way to go Mo, it will definately look better with that border. Making a good job of them bulwarks and the decking looks spot on. I have been using caldercraft "rope" for rigging the guns, it seems to be better quality than that supplied, less hairy. Sorry I never made the hooks for the blocks now ,yours look good

The border plank is well worth the effort, it makes the whole deck look so much more professional.
Keep these updates coming, you are doing a grand job! Steve..
