I was going to try the suggested method of using 1mm wide masking tape but as I have had some problems in getting hold of the stuff without buying a load of additional tape I did not want. I first tried using cut down masking tape that I had but the results where not good.Painting the vertical strips was not an option for me.

After some pondering I remembered that some of the 5 X 1 X 30 mm strips supplied in a previous issue where in fact two .5mm pieces glued together.(Some separated when I was soaking to bend them)

So I tried this

Cut 1mm strips from the lengths and soak them for a while, it will then be easy to separate then and you end up with lengths of 1 X .5 mm strips
Paint these yellow ochre and attatch to the windows to create the vertical window frames. Easier to handle then tape and gives some depth to the vertical window frames

Will add pictures when I have completed this step

hi gil,if you check my build you will see a similar method to what you just described, only what i did was paint a 3mm x1mm strip french blue, and then paint 1mm x1mm strip yellow ochre, then stick the 1x1mm to each side of the3x1mm.then when all dry cut what lengths you need for the window frames.also used this method for the bow decoration.

Well some 104 pieces of wood later the gallery is finished.

Will let the paint dry for a couple of days and then see if any minor touching up is required.
