As I sometimes have arthritis in both my hands I find mini powertools a good aid in preparing parts for building models,my first power tools were minicraft drills and sanders,rotary saws.I then moved onto proxxon lathe and fretsaw.next I needed a milling machine for rebating and various slots.example hatch covers ect.cannon ball racks.so I've invested in a unimat 1 classic.this is a modular system of various blocks,as the wife said"bit like lego". So I've spent 2 days just assembling various tools together to see how everything worked.so far I've made up the milling machine and then the lathe.will do more later,btw this set contains 6 tools all together.hand drill,hand sander,a fret saw,table sander,milling machine,lathe,bench drill,all these can be made to work at any angle in the table top mode.All these tools can be upgraded to professional standard by buying extra's.small good quality,for the modeler who hasn't much room to work in,I think darren(son of bulwark) also has this system and maybe would like to comment also.found the cheapest version on e-bay £275.00 not cheap even at this price but the quality proves it's worth. I have that set Karl, used to use it all the time, very versatile & I feel great value. I've got a bit addicted to Proxxon lately though & have their table saw, bench sander, wood lathe & mill, pricey stuff though & I'm sure I don't get my moneys sorth out of them. I think u'll love the Unimat Karl & bet it's not long before you start upgrading & getting add on's.  Wilfy

Wilfy This tools greatest feature is it modular design they is not fixed setup and so it can be configured to your needs, you will find that some extra parts will help, the best thing to start with is an extra countershaft & motor. You might also like the 1000mm machine bed to setup multiple tools. The ability to have a milling machine over a lathe is great especially when the dividing attachment is on it! (I still need that!) Oooohhh definatly on my wish list, unfortunatly also on my near impossible list; expensive. Wonder if I could make one.  Current builds:

And any model kit that catches my eye
Everything from 1/35 military to Godzilla and anything in between.
Oh and a suit of armour. ( yes real knights armour )
