Hi All, I have just started to copper the hull, but iam having trouble with the glue (trying super glue, three types of contact glue and now trying adhesive spray glue). Super Glue works but the corners keep sticking up, contact glue works until you try to clean the excess off, then the tile comes off with it and that's waiting at least 48 hrs. I have tried cleaning the tiles with a dremel but all that happens is the tiles shoot off all over the place. Next step 6" nails. Anyone out there know how to get the glue's off the copper tiles? Iam ruining moretiles than iam using at the moment, it looks a right mess. Someone please help. Glen Roger the Cabin Boy

hi glen, sorry 'bout your probs, this has happened to all of us at sometime or another, the only way is to test first a few tiles on a spare plank, decide your adhesive, and very sparingly do one tile at a time, and clean up as you go.if you've got superglue bits on the hull you'll have to sand these off,any paint wash off you not gonna like this but, you've got to start again, and read up on some of the build diaries, and stick (forgive the pun)to it,using only one adhesive,I think your safest bet would be aliphatic clue, and wipe with a damp cloth as you go.it will start to set in 10 min.so you have time to move things about.good luck and don't give up Current builds: SotS, USS Consitution, San Felipe, D51 loco, HMS Surprise, RB7, Arab Dhow, Jotika HMS Victory Completed builds: HMS Pickel, Thermopylae, Mississipi river boat, Mary Rose, Cutty Sark, San Francisco II, HMS Victory x5, Titanic Lifeboat, Panart HMS Victory Launch, Hachette Titanic, Virginia Schooner, Endeavour Longboat. http://www.model-space.com/gb/

how about trying put vaseline on the outer face of the tile and then glueing the glue willnot stick to the treated face and a little wipe at the end to remove the vaseline with white spirit, and this goes for anny type of glue used

I have used neat PVA. It holds very well but easy to remove tiles if you have to and easy to get of top surface of set tiles also. its also the cheapest glue “Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.” -Mark Twain
