I haven't done a lot lately on my Akagai as I am on pre deployment training and I try to spend my spare time with my wife and son but I am trying to learn new skills and learn from those that have more experience

Hi Ger C Believe it or not i too have learnt a lot from the forum and i hope my small additions have been of intrest and use to others on here. The sharing of our collective experience is what the forum is about and trying to help when things go wrong. And quality time spent with your family is worth its weight in gold. Now about the spray putty/filler primer im using, the one you showed is a plastic type filler used on plastic bumpers ect, this is the wrong type you need ordinary filler primer[ see pic],i would recomend buying the 500ml can as its more cost effective. As for coverage in the past one can has done several models but on the Yamato and Akagi its been closer to two thirds of a can to get the desired finish,ie spray then sand back where needed, fill[if you need too] respray.Being a yellow colour it will show up small blemishes that stick out like saw thumbs but this is what you want as it makes the desired finish. Hope this helps regards Andy arpurchase attached the following image(s): Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

andy i always used halfords primer/filler primer in the past, but i recently found some in my local petrol station, its made by carplan and cost half the price of halfords. i may just be lucky, as you know how it is at garages, some of them bump up the price of this sort of stuff, but it's worth looking around Come on you Jimmies

Hi all started attaching the hangars, no serious problems were encountered here just some small alterations to get the tabs to fit in the hull.Like Mr T i chose to assemble the starbourd side in situ straight to the hull. I also didnt cut the side panel into 3 parts as per the instructions but scored the back and bent the panel to shape. As always all comment/questions are welcome regards Andy arpurchase attached the following image(s): Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

Hi All some more pics of the hangar section atachments,as Karl pointed out earlyer the tabs on the various sections dont always fit together correctly so i had some problems here. The section marked as 1 in the pics fits the deck holes for the tabs if the tabs are shortened slightly. The part numbered 2 is set too far back by about 3mm if you use the tabs in the deck. Part 3 will not fit where it should if part 2 is not corectly relocated. Heres my solution to the fitting of these components, parts no 1 and no 3 will fit fine in the deck slots if the tabs are shortened a little, its part no 2 that needs some relocating[ note parts 1 and 2 should run in as straight a line as possible to each other].with part 2 i compleatly removed the middle tab that faces outwards and trimed back the two side tabs untill i got the alignment i wanted this gets pieces 1 and 2 in there corect positions. Now part 3 has a tab that fits in to part 2 that should make them both flush with each other but because of the relocating of part 2 the tab slot needs to be rebated another 3mm to fit it,this leaves parts 2 and 3 being slightly proud of each other but it keeps the overall alignment of the sections.I may decide to add a fillet of wood here when it comes to the finishing of the hangar decks, also the use of filler and inserts to fill gaps will be done later, hope this helps and as ussaul all comment/questions are welcome regards Andy arpurchase attached the following image(s): Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

Hi Andy, it does seem a pity that a lot of your hard work will be covered up. As you said it might be possible to make these panels removable but I have an additional enhancement to propose, if the lifts could be made so that they could be adjusted to different levels than the look of the model could be adjusted at a later stage, perhaps this is already possible.

Hi Ger C Im not compleatly sure what your saying m8 but if your proposing setting the lifts[ the part that would actualy move up and down in real life] at diffrent heights then this had also crossed my mind, so as to expose the machinery, that is if there are no extra covers to go on.Il have to wait till i get pack 14 to see whats included before i decide either way regards Andy Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

Hi All A few more pics of progress on the hangars,iv got about as far as i can with the hangars untill i get the final lift parts then i can compleat this stage. No real problems with this side just some moving inwards by half a tab to get a better fit and some of the parts leave some large gaps for mr filler to rectify later on.As ussual all comment and questions are welcome regards Andy arpurchase attached the following image(s): Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

Hi Andy! Fine job! I am looking forward to see additional pics of your model. By the way, I recommend you to pay attention on the tray of the bow side and stoppers of the lift's floors at this stage. As I wrote in another topic, there are several pit falls about these items. Hi All As promised a few more pics of progress with the filling and sanding of the hangars[note this is the first fill and sand back still more work to be done here].As karl mentioned earlyer its a bit of a lottery trying to get all the parts in there correct locations and keepimg any gaps to a minimum, luckily i managed quite well to get them together with the minimum of gaps so all that was needed was a small amount of filler to rectify things.Initial impresions after the 1st filling sanding is that shes starting to come together nicely. As always all questions and comments are most welcome regards Andy arpurchase attached the following image(s): Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .
