ISSUE ONE I will be collecting all the Keel parts before I start building and fitting the whole keel into my "Dry Dock" to stop any twisting as I build, I use a very simple construction for this and it works:- MWG attached the following image(s): MWG BUILD DIARIES: HMS VICTORY, SOVEREIGN OF THE SEAS, SAN FRANCISCO II, HMS HOOD, HMS ENDEAVOUR LONGBOAT, HMS VICTORY X-SECTION, 007 DB5, NISSAN GTR, CUTTY SARK, RB7, AKAGI, BARK HMS ENDEAVOUR, HUMMER H1, MITSUBISHI ZERO.

What a comprehensive list of tools and accessories you've put together. It looks great and is really helpful to a new person like me. Will have to go and have a look at what I can buy. Thanks MWG for putting this together and I will certainly be having a look at your build for tips.

Great start Mike...I need a new digital Vernier Caliper and I did notice them in Lidl when I was up there yesterday, but did not know about the surprise the missus had in store for me with the first issue of Sovereign otherwise I would have picked up a new vernia then!! Great start to your new build mate, laying out much of the gear needed to tackle such a build, it will be a great help to all newcomers...Keep the pics coming mate, I'll be avidly following your build... Current Builds: Deagostini HMS Victory: Deagostini HMS Sovereign of the seas. Completed Builds: Del Prado: HMAS Bounty: Hachette: RMS Titanic: Del Prado: Cutty Sark...

Hi Team I have been thinking of members who will be building the SOTS, and it will be their first period ship build.
With those people in mind, I have attempted to itemise some of the tools and ancillary products that they will need to complete their build, this is not an exhaustive list and many of you will use different items to my preffered choice.
What I am attempting to do is navigate them through the minefield of tools that are out there and help them to keep it SIMPLE I am not going to talk about lathes and Miniature model drills, because I believe the idea of using them not to mention the cost, can put a new person off, the use of these may come later in their modelling career.
So here goes:- hi Mike, your tips will be useful to many, with your tool tips and Harty's rigging deadeyes tip I think it's time to start a beginners tip section, with sub forums for tools and tips (planking, rigging, painting and whatever else people can think of.

Mike, thanks for the vote of confidence, I have one product that I use and may be of benefit to others, a quick drying wood glue. I hope that admin will pick up on this, I am at a very early stage of learning so would like to have one topic that I could look up for tips from those more experienced
