can tomick or anyone else out there help me with the current victory colours. the reason being, is that i was not content with doing one victory, i wanted to do another, but i am only rigging up to the first fighting tops, as that is how she looked when i visited earlier this year. anyone who has seen jase's pics or others will see that the current paintwork is more orangy than the yellow ochre that is recommended for a trafalgar finish, so if anyone knows where i can get this colour please let me know. and yes i will show some pics at some point, she is currently at the stage where the gallery has just been fitted. hi bob,the yellow ochre that admiral paints do is slightly brownish,but the vic as she is now I suspect is sun bleached ochre,so there maybe an other ochre suitable elsewhere.you could try experimenting with a touch of red to the yellow. I'm not aware of an off the shelf match to current day yellow, but if you contact the museum, I am sure that someone will be able to provide you with a RAL paint refernce number, which you can then cross match with available yellow's or mix a shade to suit. sorry to barge in fellows
about the ships colors would it still be ok if I stayed with the original paint scheme for the ship and life boats I don't like the new color I saw it can I stay with the yellow ochre thank you

Ronald Hi Ronald, like you I'm not too keen on the new colour scheme and I decided to stick to the original paint scheme.... It's your build so are free to paint her in any colour scheme you desire, plus I don't believe the new paint colours are available yet as a paint set so you would have to go hunting for at least the nearest match......  .. also while I'm on the subject can the Admiralty paints be airbrushed on
because I would like to airbrush only the smaller parts like the launches,
lifeboats, anchors etc especially if I have clean up most of the parts anyway and re-prime and If I can what's the paint to thinner ratio, and if not what is a good paint for priming and airbrushing wood thank you

Hi Ron, the Admiralty paint set has been specifically put together for the Victory kit and is a good set that can be simply applied using a brush giving excellent results. As for a primer, the Admiralty primer is something I have used for some parts yet for other parts I have used spray can primers from Halfords. The more you experiment with paints and airbrushes the more you'll find the ones you like best and the techniques that favour your own style of modelling. A lot of this comes down to a modellers own preferences.... Regards Alan
