This looks like the best place for an introduction so here goes.

I have been enjoying reading the content on this forum for quite a while now and thought its about time I tried to add to what is excellent reading.

My first model was a Kiel Kraft Nomad glider, vintage i guess when radio control was pretty none existent and have been modelling ever since. Ok like most I have had the odd break from it, and have broken many model aircraft over the years!

Current projects are the Hood from that other well known part work supplier, and I have picked up the first issue of the Sovereign of the Seas, although I also really like the way the Victory has turned out in the official build diary (keep up the excellent work Mr T) so I have the urge for another subscription there.

Regards

Dave

Thank you everyone,

Mark/S2ksean

I am on issue 22 of the Hood, the joyous part of the build where planking starts. Currently fairing the hull, which I think is one of the most challenging tasks of building a plank on frame construction ship. Get it right and planking is so much easier, get it wrong and you will have all sorts of fun sorting it out.

Up to now it has been an mainly enjoyable experience, the hull takes shape relatively quickly. I do wish however they supplied a good set of plans with an early issue, they would certainly be more useful than the photo's in the magazine where there is doubt about the odd piece's correct location (26A for example).

I have been fortunate as most of the ply components supplied have been relatively true, however there have been a fair amount which were badly warped that has to be corrected.

It is a shame they do not have a similar setup to Degostini with official build diaries running a few issues on advance of what we have so you can be forewarned of the odd pitfall.

Stuart,

I agree there is a wealth of interesting reading on the site. The Mclaren certainly builds into a very impressive model.

Regards

Dave
