Hey all,

After a few weeks of "Lurking" and reading your build log threads, (which are all awesome) I have decided to give the Surprise a shot. Having no experience in model making I am (to be expected) sweating already, and have only just ordered the 14 part!

Anyway, I am feeling confident at the wealth of knowledge on here will be able to carry me through.

Any early advice you guys can give me will be really appreciated.

Many regards

Elo.

Hi there and welcome to the forum, the surprise i have to tell you is not an easy build for your first try but saying that all you need is alot of patience and take your time, if you think you are getting stuck just ask there is a wealth of knowledge on here, the plans and instuctions arnt the best in the world and arm yourself with some good books on building plank on frame models before you start as this will stop any mistakes.
In saying this it is a great ship to do and well worth the effort.
Let us know how you are going on and put plenty of pictures up.
Welcome to the madness LOL

Welcome Elo to the Surprise site, I am like yourself new to all this, I once built a billings kit, that was back in 1984, No help in these days, and to be honest it did not turn out very good, I am happy with my build so far, and all the guys on here are all to happy to help if there are any bits you don't understand, get stuck in and week by week you will see progress.

Good luck.
