Hi all, Just to add something different to the mix. Have just about finished my 1st cannon. I used Citadel acrylic Warp-lock Bronze with a Dry brush of Golden Griffon, plus a wash of Nuln Oil on the Barrel and Red Sandolin Wood-stain for the carriage. Mainly because I had all these in the cupboard/shed, looks good with all that detail visible. Regards Andy

My 1st Cannon painted with my son's warhammer paints and some 12 year old Sandolin Red Wood-Stain I found in the shed.

Nice finish on the cannon, I do like Citadel colours and they have such a huge collection of paints! Dry brushing does transform the base coat and bring it to life, a very thin wash of ink will enhance the base coat and define the crests and ornamentation. I am glad to see that you have mangaged to master the art of posting photos, the first of many I suspect.

Thanks Guys, and as Karl points out 1 down, 101 to go. This is going to be great fun and if the quality of the cannons is carried through to everything else, this is going to be one heck of a model. My son had a recent Warhammer craze and I was very impressed by their range of paints and the fantastic range of metallic finishes you could get on all those vicious weapons. Plus I love the names, Leadbelcher, Screaming Bell etc. I read an article recently saying that we are the last generation of modellers, but some of the stuff these youngsters are doing with those hugely complicated fantasy/futuristic models is awesome and it's got a vast following. Different subject matter, but the same glue & paint covered fingers.

I used to also play Warhammer 40k and always thought the army paint schemes one of the main attractions for me. I've already decided to try to use some of my old paints in this build and it's good to see that I'm not the only one  my only problem comes in that most of my paints are in the old naming scheme (blood red) and not the new one (mephiston red). I love their multilayer finishes, using at least 5 different paints for each finish. I painted this miniature Agincourt Archer entirely with their paints.

In an age of internet shopping B&Q & Tesco on every corner i always try to give my money to independent retailers but it seems i am limited to plasti-kote paints,on a 1-10 scale..1 being,paint will eat away your wood and make you grow a second head and 10 being fast drying great coverage dries true to its colour...where should i put Plasti-kote? Tell me the truth,I shall not offend nor be offended
