ISSUE 124 Hi Team this is turning out to be a great Partwork, I am really enjoying it. We received 5mm x 2mm planking, plus grating strips. As advised in previous posts the timber has been badly cut, so I had some yard lengths in lime wood and I am using that, also I am not using map pins I am using my small clamps with a piece of timber under the jaws to stop the clamp marking the planking, this has worked very well. At the same time I have used the Jigs that came in issue 123 to keep the ribs at the correct spacing while planking. The first photo is of the Magazine and my new planking:- MWG attached the following image(s): MWG BUILD DIARIES: HMS VICTORY, SOVEREIGN OF THE SEAS, SAN FRANCISCO II, HMS HOOD, HMS ENDEAVOUR LONGBOAT, HMS VICTORY X-SECTION, 007 DB5, NISSAN GTR, CUTTY SARK, RB7, AKAGI, BARK HMS ENDEAVOUR, HUMMER H1, MITSUBISHI ZERO.

just watch the nasking tape at the top mike, you really want to wrap it round the very top dowel, otherwise you'll be taking it off a few times as you get near the top of the outside planking. Come on you Jimmies

Hello Mike,
As you know, I don't build the ships on here but you said in your previous post that when this Cross-Section is finished you will be mounting it on a board and hanging it on your wall??
Just an idea here, but have you thought of mounting it on a plinth to support it's weight but with one of the open ends of the section butted tight to a mirror?? That way it will be reflected in the mirror and look TWICE the length when viewed from the front but also it will appear to have TWICE the amount of detail inside, albeit repeated?? I think it would look pretty cool myself!!
As I say just a thought but wanted to throw it in in case it was worthwhile?
Did you manage to order some of those aftermarket McLaren decals by the way??
All the best,
Kev
