Have bought the first 4 magazines and now hooked.

First time attempting something that looks this complicated, but what a challenge - and what a brilliant forum, so many good ideas and enhancements.

Also building James Bond DB5 at the same time and have recieved nothing but stunning service from the local distributor Netlink, cant wait for the first subscription of the Victory to arrive.

Looking forward to sharing and solving issues at this end of the world, like where can I get yellow ochre from.

cheers

Tony

Welcome to the forum Tony.

I am unsure where you might buy the specific paint and colur in NZ, but this UK supplier ships outside of the UK, and sells the same paints that are used by most and in my build

We look forward to seeing your build progress Cool

hi tony and welcome along.

it does look daunting, but believe me if you follow the mags instructions and tomicks diary you can build this. the whole build really is step by step, and even if you do make a few errors, once the build is complete you will hardly notice.

good luck with your build

I may be wrong, but dont Games Workshop have outlets in N.Z.
The Citadel range of colours are very good, they just have different names for the more common sounding name. They do have very good covering quality and are acrylic water based just like Caldercraft!
Worth thinking about as there will be some postage costs involved shipping paint from the U.K.

Hi Tony

A big warm welcome To the Model Space ForumBigGrin just follow MT T`s official build and he will steer you in the right direction, the official paints from the Deag shop are more authentic in colour (where the Victory is concerned )than the citadel paints, and give a better scale covering without watering it thinner(in my opinion)biggrin] Regards Mike

Hi Tony,

As others have said, take your time, measure twice, cut once.

I am building the Endeavour at the moment and once this is finished I will get underway with the Victory. Can't wait.

There is so much info on this site to help you out and if you get stuck, all you have to do is ask. I have picked up so many hints. Thanks guys!

Best of luck and always take time to step back and look at what you have built and be proud of it!

Cheers Brian

Hi Tony,
Welcome aboard and enjoy your build.
Like you this is my first ever wooden ship build, and yes it was and still is a challenge but great fun and a wonderful sense of achievement.
I was told many years ago by my woodwork teacher that I could not make firewood, but did he ever build the Victory, I doubt it very much.
Just take a peek at my build diary, if I can do it so can you.
Look forward to seeing pictures of your build in the future, happy building,
CMB

Postage costs from Cornwall Model Boats to NZ is actually quite reasonable. That's where I get all my model boat needs from.
Games Workshop paints are o.k. but have very low pigment quantities and are not really very good but will do if you can't get anything else.
There is a shop in New Market, Auckland called ModelAir which is fantastic and will have a better range of quality paints that you could try.

Hope this helps.
