Hi, I was planing on constructing the hull jig in issue 3 but I cannot find the ply anywhere. I have found 0.4mm and 0.8mm but not 0.5mm and the prices are through the roof on the size needed. Where do you all get your ply from at a good price.

4mm is better suited as the framework is 4mm, but the base board needs to be at least 10mm thick and without warp.
Don't forget that it is the "straight keel" jig that you need for this model, the end result is shown at step M on page 10 of issue 3

A model aircraft shop is good source for the ply, and the base baord can be such as an MDF or Melamine board which is at least 10mm thick, which can be found in such as B&Q

Try a local joiner, the bits that you will need will often be in his scrap box/skip and they often happy to get rid of them.

Thanks Tomick. I though 0.5mm was a bit thin, Lol.

Thanks Baz

I'll be making my jig shortly once I've received my next set of issues.
Have found exactly the same issues in getting suitable sized and priced plywood board so have gone for an alternative material - pine shelf. Wonderfully cheap, very straight/flat and even looks decorative BigGrin
