BALSA INFILLS (BOW PART No 2) Hi Team, its time for me to start using balsa wood, to strengthen the Bow formers. Its something I prefer to do (you do not need to)with all my ship builds. STEP 1 cut the first pieces of Balsa (these are 10mm thick):- MWG attached the following image(s): MWG BUILD DIARIES: HMS VICTORY, SOVEREIGN OF THE SEAS, SAN FRANCISCO II, HMS HOOD, HMS ENDEAVOUR LONGBOAT, HMS VICTORY X-SECTION, 007 DB5, NISSAN GTR, CUTTY SARK, RB7, AKAGI, BARK HMS ENDEAVOUR, HUMMER H1, MITSUBISHI ZERO.

BALSA INFILLS STEP 3 Please make sure if you decide to do this, you do not fill the centre slot because judgeing by the hole at the middle of part 2 the bow sprit will be fitted here, plus there is a slot at the bottem where we are going to fit another part. I will add two more infills of 10 mm thick when I have fitted bow formers 12 in another issue. Good job mike...still have not picked up my balsa packs as yet!! Better get my backside into gear!! That looks very good Mike And I think that I will use the Balsa for my next Ship too It looks much easier to plank, and to get a better rounding

Thanks Mike, exactly what I wanted to see... Went out and got balsa today and have packed between the bow formers... quite please with the results so far... Have also decided to attempt my first diary, managed to upload two photo's, quality not great but that will improve.. Just trying to work out how to display the images as a post rather than a download..... Great work as usual Mike....

Hi Mike, I've never used Balsa before, but it seems like a good way to go. Not sure my pocket is deep enough (@ the prices in my local shop) or my sanding arm tough enough, to Balsa the whole Hull though. Excellent posts, as usual, thanks for all the food for thought.

Hi Mike, That doesn't sound bad at all for price and quantity, what width is that? The local Shop wanted £5 for a piece 10mm x 500mm x 100mm, and I thought I am going to need a lot of those. I shall look further afield. Thanks for the info.
