Hi Mike,
Just seen you last post,Mike you alone have pushed our models to standards to which we could not achieve, your Gallery Enhancments not only look's the part but most importantly it speaks quality.

I myself haven't reached this point yet due to my own mod's but looking at other members Gallery builds the Enhancments are of a fine quality, although De-Ago did there best and there are some fine examples out there (I think they had to work to a price)for me your Enhancments when you want that little bit extra I favour.

Also in my opinion and maybe others! I do not regard this as advertising what I do regard it as is showing and reminding old and new members that some one has taken the time! plus the research to enlighten us all,and give the opportunity to contact yourself.

With this in mind.

Kind Regards Trev.

This is what you have in your pack, please handle all components with care particularly the brass etch, if you get finger marks on the brass please clean it with whit spirit or similar solventand then wash it off with warm soapy water the dry with kitchen towel.

Please put away for safe keeping the binnacle parts including the chimney, and the Ships sign.

I have taken off the old Gallery and prepared the stern of the ship, because we have clear acetate for the windows I have painted between the decks with Tamiya HULL RED XF-9 you can use black or whatever is your preference. Her are some photos of that work, and will be all for now so members can reach this stage.BigGrin

Hi Mike,
Thanks for the update, all eyes peeled waiting to follow you on this one. Because the windows now have a clear acetate,I had decided against painting the interior of the gallery, and, as you know, I found some photos of the Victory's interior - both rear and sides - the then scaled them down to fit our build, and printed them out and stuck them to the rear bulkhead and the sides of the hull that will be covered by the side windows - although in hindsight, I may move the ones at the back to a point which is nearer to the back panel (the reason being that with no lighting in there, it's very difficult to see as far in to the ship as the rear bulkhead).
I've also scaled down and printed out some chequer-board pattern to use for the floor covering.
At the moment I'm working on applying the correct degree of curvature to the panels with my electric bender and trying to make up my mind what colour to have for the window frames. As my build is stain and varnish, I thought that maybe I could paint just the windows with yellow ochre, then found out how difficult it is to buy a ready-made colour, so I'm still scratching my head about that one - any ideas?
Anyway, really looking forward to your next update.
Happy building
David

GALLERY ENHANCEMENT

Hi Team, Before progressing with the build of the upgrade, I would like to touch on the question of paint/Ink colour, as we need to decide on our choice in order to colour the windows before fixing the ply pieces together.

On the samples in the photo you will see the following:-

GALLERY ENHANCEMENT

COLOUR (A) Is a paint supplied by Deag (as mentioned before the manufacturer of the paint took samples of paint from the real Victory as she would have been coated in 1805,not as she is today)If I use this paint I would not need to use etching primer on the brass balustradesBigGrin

COLOUR (B) Is an ink from Rowney Yellow ochre it coats very well, it is the brightest of the colours.

COLOUR (C) this is a paint, yellow ochre by citadel (I painted the launch in this colour.)

COLOUR (D) this again is an ink by Rowney and is Raw Umber ( this colour is close to the colour the Victory is today) it covers very well

Well over to you your comments would be welcomeBigGrin Regards Mike

Hi David, please do not bend the plywood singularly we need to stick them together on a flat surface before we bend them or the windows will not line up, and befor we stick them together we need to paint the windows, in your case you could use a Yellow ochre on the and the rest stain, or a light and dark stain as a contrast.

Kind Regards Mike

A very good point Mike, I hadn't thought about that. Fortunately, I've only bent one side so far and (luckily) it does marry up alright, so I'll put a hold on that job until I've come up with a colour I like - your colour B, the brightest one seems a likely one for me - then I can get the painting done and the two pieces put together before I do any more bending. Thanks for the tip
