Regards Trev. I don't think that it is that much either? Not after all the refits she had undergone in her time and especially after being rammed in 1903 by HMS Neptune, then bombed by the Luftwaffe during the last war which damaged her keel..I think that there is a write up on here somewhere that states just how much of Victory is original? Current Builds: Deagostini HMS Victory: Deagostini HMS Sovereign of the seas. Completed Builds: Del Prado: HMAS Bounty: Hachette: RMS Titanic: Del Prado: Cutty Sark...

Do you remember a story from the comedy series "Only Fools & Horses" where in one episode 'Trigger' (the road sweeper) was awarded a medal by the council for having the same broom for 17 years. He said to Del & Rodney in the cafe "Yeah! That's right, 17 years - it's had 12 new handles & 20 new heads" (the number of new handles and heads might not be quite right but at least you get the gist of it) Happy building David

Am I right in saying the Victory was dismasted at Trafalger and towed back to port. If so none of the masts will be original.

Yes, I believe you are correct there, Victory was towed to Gibraltar. So I assume her masts were shot...The masts currently on the Victory are hollow wrought-iron masts, which were taken from a ship called the Shah in the 1880's. Current Builds: Deagostini HMS Victory: Deagostini HMS Sovereign of the seas. Completed Builds: Del Prado: HMAS Bounty: Hachette: RMS Titanic: Del Prado: Cutty Sark...

My understanding is that one of the decks is original from when she was in service at Trafalgar and that is the middle gun deck that you first step on As you go aboard. That is according to one of the gides the current mast are steel that the Victorians installed and the upper decks are mahogany from the royal yacht before Britania “Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.” -Mark Twain
