Hi Denissimo using tin to cut down on weight is a good idea as for the milling out i hope your going to use a lathe or simular as the castings are of a very hard metal[i sometimes think there titanium based there so hard to file back].I hope your going to do a diary of your build ,i for one will be most intrested regards Andy Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

Hi shipmates! About the weight of the bridge block of this model, I think it surely too heavy. DeAGOTINI Japan buys the original models from WoodyJoe that is a wood model company in Japan. It sells almost same model in Japan shown as following URL. http://www.woodyjoe.com/catalog/250yamato.html
One of the difference between WoodyJoe model and DeAGOSTINI's one is that bridge block of WoodyJoe model is made of wood parts. I don't know the reason why DeAGOSTINI's model uses metal parts, but the metal parts make the weight be increased in. The problem caused by excess weight influences not only RC but also display stand. The stand that is provided by DeAGOSTINI supports the hull by its 4 props. Such structure shall make the heavy model be damaged. I have put the model on the panel that is put on the 4 props of the stabnnd. Best Regards, Yutaro DeAGOSTINI 1/250 the YAMATO, 1/250 the AKAGI. Hi Andy , Another piece of great workmanship, this may seem like a silly question but do you paint and prime these smaller additions by hand or by airbrush? Thanks
|
|
|
Hi Ger C thanks for your kind words,as for the painting question i generaly brush coat these at 1st but i will be going over it with an airbrush later in the build to even the colour tones up in the grey regards Andy Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

Hi Andy, I'm not building this model but just spent the last hour looking through your build diary.Wow.What an amazing build.I normally build smaller plastic models & i didn't realize the amount of work that goes into building a large wooden ship.It looks great & will be a real work of model building art when finished.Stuart.

Hi Stupot thanks for looking at my diary and your kind words much apreciated,as for the detailing i just felt that a model this size more than waranted the extra add ons i have obtained. Its just my way of showing others that its possible to improve a model either by scratch building parts or aftermarket suplyers, glad you enjoyed my diary so far theres still loads to come[ 5 issues left on my sub] regards Andy Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

Hi Andy! Your scratch building of gun stops looks real. If you are searching for more information about them, I recommend you to refer to the URL below. http://www.geocities.jp/...museum/yamatomuseum.htm
This page is written by Japanese DeAGOSTINI's Yamato model builders' club . Off course, I am one of the members of it. You can see a lot of photos of 1/10 Yamato model in Yamato museum in Kure city. Click "その他の砲塔" and you can see the bridge island's guns photos. I hope they would help you make the model. Best Regards, Yutaro DeAGOSTINI 1/250 the YAMATO, 1/250 the AKAGI. Hi Yaturo I have been using J Skulski,s book of drawings for the Yamato compared to the 1/10 scale there is a slight discrepancy at the 2 bridge anti aircraft guns but the rest are the same. Thanks for looking in regards Andy Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .
