Hi All Having read various posts re: warped/faulty parts, I was wondering if there may be a problem later on if you store up your issues before starting the build? I won't be able to start my build as I'm moving house soon so want to wait until we're moved in and I can get my new work area sorted (can't wait! ) So if I don't start my build until, say end of November, early December and then encounter some of the early issue parts issues will DeAg still honour replacements? I don't really want to open any of the blister packs until it's time to start! Cheers Pete Pete

Hi Pietro, so far, the only issue listed as having any problems so far is issue #4 with the cut of the sides of rib 13 (parts 13A & 13B). Your best option would be to check these now (assuming you have the issue) and confirm that the ribs match when placed together. Most issues seem to be fine but a few were miss-cut and the deck levels did not line up. Providing this is fine, there should not be any problem with you storing the issues for a period prior to building. When you come to starting your build, check the pieces in issue order for signs of warping/twisting. If your parts are like mine, you'll find varying degrees of warp. This is easily rectified by soaking heavily warped pieces (slightly damp for lightly warped) in cold water, placing them between two large floor tiles, using the flat faces as a press, and finally place a heavy weight on top and allow to dry. Drying times vary depending on degree of warp and how wet the pieces were made. Once flat, store between another two floor tiles to keep them flat until needed in your build. Good examples can be found in MWG's and Court Orchard's build diaries for the Sovereign. Only other thing to do would be to confirm parts quantities against the issue listings as sometimes a wheel or pin might be missing - looks like I've gained an extra pin from someone elses issue... I also don't think there would be a problem with DeAgostini in replacing lost/damaged parts but obviously, the early they are informed, the quicker they can deal with any problems... Parts content should be checked as and when you receive them, also how they are stored matters. Warped panels can be induced if weight is placed up on them over a period of time, or that ambient conditions are in the extreme.

Thanks Tomick this is the question I was going to ask, as I and probably others are waiting until around issue 10. I dont look at the parts and theyre still in the packing they came in stored in a box.
My question probably for admin is - If a part is wrong can I get a replacement when I do build it or should I and others be checking the parts now ?

The answer is to check them as you receive them, I am sure you can get replacements, but DeAg say it can be up to 28 days to get a replacement. As far as I understand you can only get a full issue as a replacement and not individual parts. On the DeAg shop site it says that all issues are in stock, but this is not the case as I found out when I rang up about my 1st issues of the Victory X-section. In fact they could give me no idea when they might be in stock. Somebody posted that they had been waiting 9 weeks. So the sooner you spot any problems and request a replacement the better!

I feel that I need to add that the 1st 4 issues of the X-Section turned up this morning. Slightly at odds with the welcome email. But, I'm very happy.

Thanks all for your replies - I do check the parts with each issue received (my issue 2 was missing a wheel from the cannon pack, I emailed DeAg last week but as yet no reply) so hopefully my only issues might be with slight warping which following your advice can be easily remedied. I will be storing flat and in a good ambient temp so hopefully no major problems! Pete

Pietro, if you don't receive a reply from customer services soon, send Mr T or Admin a PM and they'll look into it for you. Several forum members who have had difficulties have done so with great results. Just ensure you send them your SotS account number and details so they get the correct account...
