Hi, just wondering if annyone knows what if any parts of the build will be movable after completion? As i have seen pictures of doors, windows, canon flaps opened/closed on some models.
ie: will the canons be able to emerge out of the ship and retreat with a closed canon flap as if it were closed from battle?
Also, probly a realy realy dumb question but i have to ask if the wheel and or helm be operable?

Nothing is operable nor is it meant to be. I have yet to see any such static model ship with operable features unless self made by the builder.

The Tiller (also on ship's boat) and the windlass worked on the Harvey. But in a rather basic way. These models have so much detail on when fully rigged that you would run serious risk of collateral damage each time you reached in to twiddle. The thought of scores of minute hinged cannon ports and associated movements for the cannon barrels would make even the most experienced of builders turn pale.

I did think about making the rudder/tiller linked to operate as it would in life but then the rigging looked like it would interfere with finger operation... One or two thought of doing this for the Victory, but it doesn't seem to have come to fruition.Andy Current Builds: - HMS Sovereign of the Seas Planning on Building: - Scratch built HMS Victory full detail interior (I know what's inside even if you can't see it ) Completed Builds: -

pretty hard to do with victory as the ships wheel is behind the compass cabinate and underneath the poop deck, rubber fingers would help.the cannon movement can be achieved by pullys and bell cranks, french prisoner of war have done it with there bone models.if you have done r/c building you will have some idea how to do this. Current builds: SotS, USS Consitution, San Felipe, D51 loco, HMS Surprise, RB7, Arab Dhow, Jotika HMS Victory Completed builds: HMS Pickel, Thermopylae, Mississipi river boat, Mary Rose, Cutty Sark, San Francisco II, HMS Victory x5, Titanic Lifeboat, Panart HMS Victory Launch, Hachette Titanic, Virginia Schooner, Endeavour Longboat. http://www.model-space.com/gb/
