I've subscribed to the X-Section and one day it may even arrive. When it does I'll be following your build with a keen eye. Love the work with the Walnut (0.5mm??). Gets rid of all those ugly plywood edges. Keep up the excellent posts and work.

ISSUES 129 AND 130 BUILDS Hi Team, well here we are again as you know I am planking the main beams, the pump well and the mast base to cover the ends of the ply wood. I have also modified the deck limbers, I am using the Anatomy of the ship for my information. All the build in the photos is dry fitted, I do not intend to use adhesive untill I am satisfied that all is well. The insructions in Issue 130 tell you to stick the pump well in place, this to me is a no no because it is difficult to plank the pump well when it is fixed in the confined space, better to plank it outside the hull. Here are photos of the beam being planked:- MWG attached the following image(s): MWG BUILD DIARIES: HMS VICTORY, SOVEREIGN OF THE SEAS, SAN FRANCISCO II, HMS HOOD, HMS ENDEAVOUR LONGBOAT, HMS VICTORY X-SECTION, 007 DB5, NISSAN GTR, CUTTY SARK, RB7, AKAGI, BARK HMS ENDEAVOUR, HUMMER H1, MITSUBISHI ZERO.

ISSUES 129 AND 130 BUILDS At this point I stained the sides of the beams with Georgian Medium Oak (Coloron Wood Dye) and thinned it with white spirit to obtain the same colour as the walnut planking I am applying. -- PLEASE NOTE I applied the dye before I planked the beams so that it would not "bleed" onto the planking:- MWG attached the following image(s): MWG BUILD DIARIES: HMS VICTORY, SOVEREIGN OF THE SEAS, SAN FRANCISCO II, HMS HOOD, HMS ENDEAVOUR LONGBOAT, HMS VICTORY X-SECTION, 007 DB5, NISSAN GTR, CUTTY SARK, RB7, AKAGI, BARK HMS ENDEAVOUR, HUMMER H1, MITSUBISHI ZERO.

ISSUES 129 AND 130 BUILDS Then I planked the ends of the beams:- MWG attached the following image(s): MWG BUILD DIARIES: HMS VICTORY, SOVEREIGN OF THE SEAS, SAN FRANCISCO II, HMS HOOD, HMS ENDEAVOUR LONGBOAT, HMS VICTORY X-SECTION, 007 DB5, NISSAN GTR, CUTTY SARK, RB7, AKAGI, BARK HMS ENDEAVOUR, HUMMER H1, MITSUBISHI ZERO.

ISSUES 129 AND 128 BUILDS I gave the mast base the same treatment, applying the dye to the sides before planking:- MWG attached the following image(s): MWG BUILD DIARIES: HMS VICTORY, SOVEREIGN OF THE SEAS, SAN FRANCISCO II, HMS HOOD, HMS ENDEAVOUR LONGBOAT, HMS VICTORY X-SECTION, 007 DB5, NISSAN GTR, CUTTY SARK, RB7, AKAGI, BARK HMS ENDEAVOUR, HUMMER H1, MITSUBISHI ZERO.

ISSUES 129 AND 130 BUILDS Now it is the turn of the pump well to be planked again I am using my 5mm x 1mm walnut planking:- MWG attached the following image(s): MWG BUILD DIARIES: HMS VICTORY, SOVEREIGN OF THE SEAS, SAN FRANCISCO II, HMS HOOD, HMS ENDEAVOUR LONGBOAT, HMS VICTORY X-SECTION, 007 DB5, NISSAN GTR, CUTTY SARK, RB7, AKAGI, BARK HMS ENDEAVOUR, HUMMER H1, MITSUBISHI ZERO.

ISSUES 129 AND 130 I decided to plank the stand with my walnut planking, during this process I soaked the planks to form them around the curves, clamping them while wet untill dry but not using adhesive:- MWG attached the following image(s): MWG BUILD DIARIES: HMS VICTORY, SOVEREIGN OF THE SEAS, SAN FRANCISCO II, HMS HOOD, HMS ENDEAVOUR LONGBOAT, HMS VICTORY X-SECTION, 007 DB5, NISSAN GTR, CUTTY SARK, RB7, AKAGI, BARK HMS ENDEAVOUR, HUMMER H1, MITSUBISHI ZERO.
