It's utterly laughable!
There's NO WAY on this planet, that a display case as SMALL as that is worth over £1200!
You could buy a serious QUALITY piece of furniture that would hold half a dozen 1/8 cars for that!
I wonder how many idiots ever buy one???
Even if I could afford an Amalgam model, I wouldn't be ripped off like that!
A genuine high quality old-school cabinet maker would make one by hand, FAR better, for a fraction of the price.
Just goes to show how many fools there must be out there.
Roy.

I think it's more for corporation displays rather than for the individual joe public

A company would pass the hefty price tag through as expenses and not worry about it!

Same as the models too, who would pay £3-£4k for something already made up
Takes all the fun out of owning it BigGrin

I ordered the Aston Martin DB5 case from www.pictureboxdisplaycabinets.com, requested an mdf based, sprayed it black and covered with a carbon sheet, looks excellent!

Good find and great price... Would be nice to have a carbon finish/effect base even if it means a few more pennies to the pricing..

BigGrin Lovely build! I am going for the cheaper display case too! I think it is smarter IMO! I am also going to get some carbon fibre paper to cover the wood effect.

A link to this picture was posted a while back by Sandelc123 who has placed carbon sheet on to his base, i would think that you would have to modify/enlarge the base rebate to account for the vinyl thickness which would prevent the cover from fitting properly back onto the base

Its 185 Microns thick mate , can't see it casuing much issue there. I'm pretty sure the people who make the cases for 60 quid don't work in Microns. LOL LOL

When I added the carbon vinyl, it was on top of the base only, therefore it had no effect on the acrylic case fittings.

Basically cut it to size, placed it on and stuck down via the attached glue and a hairdryer!

Simples!
