Hi all, I've been away for a while so apologies if this has been mentioned elsewhere. The Carbon Decals supplied by Deag, are they any good. Is it worth putting them on or is it best to leave off. I wouldn't want to spoil a great model by putting them on!! Any replies greatly received.

You are in a win/win situation buddy. Put them on, if you don't like em, take em off.. !!! It's not as if they are superglued on... Personally I quite like them..:-))

I too was sceptical about them, But when I placed them on I was pleasantly surprised. Using Micro set and sol helped enhance them further too. Besides as Chrisgo said you can always take them off.

I've been thinking of ordering the two sheets on back issue so I could reverse them and do the underside as well. I believe they are issues 65 and 66..?
But then got to thinking that if any forum members who are not going to use them would like to sell them I would be interested to buy them. But obviously not at the £7.99 each that back issues cost.. Maybe £10 for the pair..??
Pm me if anyone has any sheets going spare...:-))

Well after putting off for all this time I finally took the plunge and applied the rear decals

As everyone else I took the advice of using micro set and sol and I'm very pleased with how it all went, especially after dreading it for all this time

We'll pleased with the result and finish, will get some pics up when I get a chanceBigGrin

Only bad thing is though I knocked the micro set over and spilled half of it on the carpet!!!!Cursing
Certainly has a distinct smell!!!Blushing

sorry to bring this up again but iv only just got to the issues with the carbon decals, iv built a few models in my time and iv always just used water but with this model i wanna do a good job not that iv had any bad experiences with the water but i dont know if the finish is any beter using the micro sol/set compared to water. the instructions say water but im just abit stuck as to what way to go and was wondering if everyone went for water as per instructions or the micro sol/set. next question is the micro sol/set the revell ones or are there other makes also. thanks peeps

Still use the water to soak the decal but use micro set after applying to get a good even flat surface to iron out any bubbles.. if you have had no difficulties in the past with decals then carry on as you do BigGrin

Thanks warthog, reason i was asking is that a couple of my older models some of the decals have just fallen off over time and i didnt want this happening to my mclaren. so maybe if i use this micro set then this will help them stay on in years to come.

so if i apply my decals in the normal way with water, i then normally use a cotton bud to take away any excess water and then just finish it off with the micro set , is that right??

yep but have a look at the link that Dave has put up from Tomick.. use microset as a base too when you put the decal down..
