ISSUE 7 BUILD I assembled rib 22 after removing loose ash, again while using adhesive I placed it on my board with plastic on it:- MWG attached the following image(s): MWG BUILD DIARIES: HMS VICTORY, SOVEREIGN OF THE SEAS, SAN FRANCISCO II, HMS HOOD, HMS ENDEAVOUR LONGBOAT, HMS VICTORY X-SECTION, 007 DB5, NISSAN GTR, CUTTY SARK, RB7, AKAGI, BARK HMS ENDEAVOUR, HUMMER H1, MITSUBISHI ZERO.

ISSUE 7 BUILD Then I put all the other parts in my Tile press (I have 10 tiles on top now because of the amount of product inside ) Now I am going on to my DRY DOCK and laying out the Keel with the angle brackets, first check all the brackets are square:- MWG attached the following image(s): MWG BUILD DIARIES: HMS VICTORY, SOVEREIGN OF THE SEAS, SAN FRANCISCO II, HMS HOOD, HMS ENDEAVOUR LONGBOAT, HMS VICTORY X-SECTION, 007 DB5, NISSAN GTR, CUTTY SARK, RB7, AKAGI, BARK HMS ENDEAVOUR, HUMMER H1, MITSUBISHI ZERO.

DRY DOCK BUILD 1 First I draw a line down the centre of the board, and place the Keel flat on the board so that you can see where the brackets will fit and also it will show how many you need:- MWG attached the following image(s): MWG BUILD DIARIES: HMS VICTORY, SOVEREIGN OF THE SEAS, SAN FRANCISCO II, HMS HOOD, HMS ENDEAVOUR LONGBOAT, HMS VICTORY X-SECTION, 007 DB5, NISSAN GTR, CUTTY SARK, RB7, AKAGI, BARK HMS ENDEAVOUR, HUMMER H1, MITSUBISHI ZERO.

THE DRY DOCK BUILD 2 I used 6 angle brackets per side. once I had used the keels edge to position my brackets I fixed them to the board. Once that was completed I started to assemble the Keel and fix with adhesive, using spare frames for spacers:- MWG attached the following image(s): MWG BUILD DIARIES: HMS VICTORY, SOVEREIGN OF THE SEAS, SAN FRANCISCO II, HMS HOOD, HMS ENDEAVOUR LONGBOAT, HMS VICTORY X-SECTION, 007 DB5, NISSAN GTR, CUTTY SARK, RB7, AKAGI, BARK HMS ENDEAVOUR, HUMMER H1, MITSUBISHI ZERO.

THE DRY DOCK BUILD 3 I now fitted the support to the other side and clamped them using heavy clamps:- MWG attached the following image(s): MWG BUILD DIARIES: HMS VICTORY, SOVEREIGN OF THE SEAS, SAN FRANCISCO II, HMS HOOD, HMS ENDEAVOUR LONGBOAT, HMS VICTORY X-SECTION, 007 DB5, NISSAN GTR, CUTTY SARK, RB7, AKAGI, BARK HMS ENDEAVOUR, HUMMER H1, MITSUBISHI ZERO.

THE DRY DOCK BUILD 4 As I built the Keel I fitted the brackets on the other side of the Keel, therefore maintaining a straight Keel (please note we do not use any fancy tools, keep it simple this hobby is expensive enough) I continued to join the Keel with adhesive and spacers as I went along, at the same time fitting the brackets on the other side. I substituted the 2 red clamps for my trusty long bar clamps making sure the joint was well compressed and straight:- MWG attached the following image(s): MWG BUILD DIARIES: HMS VICTORY, SOVEREIGN OF THE SEAS, SAN FRANCISCO II, HMS HOOD, HMS ENDEAVOUR LONGBOAT, HMS VICTORY X-SECTION, 007 DB5, NISSAN GTR, CUTTY SARK, RB7, AKAGI, BARK HMS ENDEAVOUR, HUMMER H1, MITSUBISHI ZERO.

THE DRY DOCK BUILD 5 I have used the stand for the Bow as supplied in the Kit but I have not fixed it to the board, preffering to let it rest free and not under any strain, and really just giving me the angle for the bow plus some support when I fit the forward ribs Thats all for this session, I will let the adhesive harden and fit the ribs tomorrow Questions and comments welcome Kind regards Mike The last Photo shows the stand in situ, please note the ribs in the photo are put in for spacers (I had a couple spare) MWG attached the following image(s): MWG BUILD DIARIES: HMS VICTORY, SOVEREIGN OF THE SEAS, SAN FRANCISCO II, HMS HOOD, HMS ENDEAVOUR LONGBOAT, HMS VICTORY X-SECTION, 007 DB5, NISSAN GTR, CUTTY SARK, RB7, AKAGI, BARK HMS ENDEAVOUR, HUMMER H1, MITSUBISHI ZERO.

ISSUE 7 BUILD Hi Team here we go with the most important stage of the build, get this wrong and your ship/ keel will end up in the shape of a snake. STAGE 1 In this stage we have built the DRY DOCK and laid the Keel, I am very pleased with my ship now the adhesive is totally cured. STAGE 2 This is where we fit 90% of the ribs, making sure they are all running true, you can not rush this stage, so please take your time. STAGE 3 This is where I will fit the Balsa infills, for those members who are following my build and wish to use the Balsa methode please note this is my preffered way of completing this stage, other builders will have their own way of doing things. So on to stage 2 I have included lots of photos. First up we fit the Bow rib, I have already filled this part with balsa and faired it off the ship (it is easier) MWG attached the following image(s): MWG BUILD DIARIES: HMS VICTORY, SOVEREIGN OF THE SEAS, SAN FRANCISCO II, HMS HOOD, HMS ENDEAVOUR LONGBOAT, HMS VICTORY X-SECTION, 007 DB5, NISSAN GTR, CUTTY SARK, RB7, AKAGI, BARK HMS ENDEAVOUR, HUMMER H1, MITSUBISHI ZERO.

ISSUE 7 BUILD I have not laboured on how to fit each rib, but I sanded the slots removing all the loose ash with an emery board (ladies use them for their nails) I made sure the ribs were totally home by taping them in with a small hammer and a piece of wood (see photo)Plus I used a set square to make sure the ribs were at 90 degrees to the Hull. When the ribs had cured I turned the ship over and sanded where the ribs meet the Keel:- MWG attached the following image(s): MWG BUILD DIARIES: HMS VICTORY, SOVEREIGN OF THE SEAS, SAN FRANCISCO II, HMS HOOD, HMS ENDEAVOUR LONGBOAT, HMS VICTORY X-SECTION, 007 DB5, NISSAN GTR, CUTTY SARK, RB7, AKAGI, BARK HMS ENDEAVOUR, HUMMER H1, MITSUBISHI ZERO.
